LIE Service Road
Where is the most popular spot to ride the LIE service road? Between what exits? I am near exit 44 but it seems that the better riding would be further east. Thanks

Well, the reality is, that it's pretty good from the Queens / Nassau border on out --with a couple of exceptions. There is the well known group that starts at the park just west of Little Neck Parkway.

It's pretty good from where you are out to Commack Rd and back.
BTW, how are the road condition? I'm thinking of heading out there in the morning.

OK, so maybe a scouting commentary for Sunday . . .
ride from Great Neck to Half Hollow Road, ultimately Old Country Road to Cuba Hill road and eventually to Huntington and back.
Service Road in fine condition, but once you get off the L.I.E., I was surprised how much more and as yet unmelted snow there is on the shoulders in Suffolk County --including Old Country Road east of Wolf Hill Rd.

At exit 44 you are going to find people going both east and west. I would head west to the city line. You will have lots of company. Sunday morning is probably the most popular time.
