New find with a mix of parts
Good evening from Scotland.
I picked up this donation today with no identifying marks on the frame. I have not has the opportunity to check it fully for any serial number, but it isn't in the usual spots (BB, Rear drop out).
Mash up of parts including:
Sugino crankset
Shimano FE front derailleur, Shimano RS rear
Mallinard hubs (unidentified rims 27")
Italian stem
Weinmann 730 brakes, Weinmann levers (suicide!)
LYOTARD BTE S.G.D.G 136R pedals
Any ideas on era? Any identifying work on the frame? There is no brazed on hanger - does that suggest an older frame? The chain-stay brace is a split design that I haven't seen before. The top tube cable guides are a bit distinctive. The paint job is a good quality powder blue with a slight sparkle (but this has probably been resprayed at some point)
Nothing is seized (yet).
It's a little small for me, but I don't have any other bike projects at the moment.
Here are some pictures - mudguard/fender is off!
Thanks!

It is not high end, but looks like a good workable early to mid '80's bike. Perhaps Japanese. Need more frame details to help identify, if it is even possible.
Straight cut bottom bracket lugs
stamped rear dropouts
braze on rear brake guides
Short point head lugs

No problem 3speedslow.
This is it after I fixed it up (my first time ever fixing up an old bike). I have since found out it is a Red Feather and will require a red paint job at some stage!

The back rim is pretty bent so I guess it took at hit from something significant taking the mudguard out with it. The rims are steel, so probably should be replaced anyway!

I think it is unlikely that it is s Schwinn as they aren't very common here. If I find out when I strip it down I will carry this post on. Thanks for the interest!

Where (roughly) is "here"?
Did you check the non-drive-side dropout for a serial #?

I stripped it down tonight. I still can't find a stamp. None on either of the drop outs - there is an area that could have been filed off on the bottom bracket next to the two brazed on cable guides.
But, the fork is stamped. It has a Tange 4G stamp. Am I right in thinking that many Schwinn's 10 speeds were made in the Japan boom years?
Schwinn experts - where would I find good pictures of possible Schwinn frames to help ID it?
One setback though. I think the non driveside seat stay is a little bent (maybe by the knock that took out the wheel and mudguard!).
It should be possibe to bend it back - right?

Tange 4G fork
NDS Seat and Chain stay are bent.

+1; nice you found a match on the mudguard. But no less of a mystery, right? Still no sign of a serial number? Wouldn't it be something if it were an Asian-made US-market Schwinn that made it to Scotland? The sun never sets on where that bike has been.....

That ain't broke, merely bent. One of the many sterling qualities of steel. (Yes, I know it's been called the lowest form of the lowest form of humour.)
