Let' See Your Original "As Found" bikes...

To me, "original as found" means a bike found sporting its original paint, art and components fitted. I do not care what color the bike is as long as it has not been fiddled with. Cleaned up is OK. Rebuilt is OK. New bar tape or brake pads or cables are all OK,

Repainted, new art, different components and the like are not OK for this thread.

Following are a few of my "as found" original bikes and only ones that are in good shape. I have others pristine "as found" steeds and a heck of a lot more not so pristine offerings only the clean ones appear here...

This Gardin 400 was 100% original "as found" and it looked exactly like this...

An entry level Cambio Rino...

Sekine TL35F Deluxe...

Bianchi 841d...

Bianchi Rekord 848...

Torpado LUXE...

Early seventies Skyway...

Picked up a 1993 Trek Singletrack 930 around noon today for free. A neighbor a few doors away dumped it plus two helmets and two old spare tires at the curb a couple of days ago. Nobody touched it so I went to look at it and happened to see the neighbor adjacent to the owner. He said it was dumped there on garbage day but the truck left it. Can't post a picture of it here because somebody switched out the stem for a Ringle Softride stem and added Powergrip toe straps to it. Doesn't meet the "all original" requirement. I can brag anyway. No rust. Outside of needing a good cleaning and lubrication and a few scratches on the bike looks remarkably good for one that is 24 years old. I'll refurbish it and pass it on to a Scout for Cycling Merit Badge next Spring when we do our annual rides.

This has been posted many times, but I am always ready when another thread comes up that it can go in.

1979 Merz TW189

I am the second owner, it was on consignment by the the original owner, Bob Freeman helped him build this, then 45 years later I asked Bob about coming to his show in Seattle, he asked what I was bringing, I said Merz TW 189, he said that's Tom Winterowds bike that I helped him build and put me in contact with him. It snowed so I didn't go to the show.

When I got it, it had special brackets mounted to the racks that were of course custom and built for the brackets. I couldn't remember what they were for so I took them off and saved them, they were kind of ugly.

They were for Eclipse panniers, when I contacted the 1st owner he told me to come and visit him In Canby OR about 15 mi. from me. My son and I drove out about halfway and then rode to his place. He gave me the original panniers, a backup set of Jannd's, all the build paperwork, a ton of catalogs, tools, parts, etc. Had a great visit and had to take the car back later.

I showed this at L'eroica in 2017, had 3 people say it should win the unrestored class, of course it was not to be.

My 93 Allez Sport as found and near I can tell pretty much bone stock. As a 56 its just a bit too small for me so its going to get the spa treatment and find a new home and some day I am going to find a 58 cm frame Allez

Don't know if the purpose of this thread is to show bikes that were remarkably preserved or ones that were largely original. I'm assuming the latter, so here are a couple of contributions:

1969 Raleigh SuperCourse

Purchased from the wife of the original owner about a mile away from where I live (rode it home). Other than a Schwinn stem, it was pretty much as originally purchased.

1950 Raleigh Clubman

Also purchased from the original owner who worked for Raleigh USA in Boston in the 50s and commuted on this bike. It lived most of its life on the Massachusetts coast, hence the extreme patina.

Original everything but tires! The bike was hanging on a bike shop wall since 1988.

Only things not original are the cables and handlebar tape. The original tires still have the rubber hairs on them. It’s currently listed in the C&V for sale forum

First of my two Siegers. The other is a bare repainted frameset, so it doesn't count. Almost everything is original, other than the oversize (58T (!) outer chainring. Note the wonderful bike license decal at the top of the seat tube, covering the (presumably damaged) full Reynolds 531 decal.

'76 Sentinel Whisper purchased from the original owner, complete with owner's manual. Complete Shimano groupset including hubs and fingertip controls. Check out that reflector. Headwinds would be brutal!

My mostly original 1978 gold "twins" a PR10, my first gold bike, in amazing shape for someone's commuter, and a Super Course, original paint and decals (such as they are). Both bikes have replacements, but period correct cranksets and aero levers. The camo tape on the Raleigh is temporary till I get fit dialed in, will be replaced by brown leather-ish wrap like the Peugeot.

Best example that I have. A CL find from a few years ago that I went to get thinking it would be a "parts" bike. It's a ladies, Dunelt with a Sturmey Archer hub dated 1962.

These two Legnanos are pretty much original. On the left is a 1961 Gran Premio that I acquired on the way home from Eroica. Original paint and chrome has taken a beating as a 20 year barn find, but its great mechanically, and fun to ride. On the right is my 1964 Roma Olympiade that I've had since new, so I know its all original. Both bikes have had the rims changed over to 700c clinchers, otherwise pretty much as built, painted and decalled.

Patina.

Gran Premio as bought.

GP, Cleaned up, completed 100Km as $100 Clunker Challenge.

My '64 Roma at Eroica.

This is my low end entry to this category. It is Royce Union that was made in Japan. Probably mid to late '70's. It is on it's way to a better life. The frame is in primer now. My sister had one just like this in High School. After she graduated and left for college, I converted it into an upright 5 speed for my dad. He recently gave it to one of his landscapers. I am hoping he likes it.

My 1968 Raleigh Sprite. Even had the original chain.
I ended up replacing the handgrips, one brake cable, Kool stops, chain and the pedals. The original pedal was OK but the nut was welded on somewhere along the line so I couldn't service the bad bearings. replaced with different but similar vintage Raleigh pedals. Changed the rear cog, added the pump, a battery headlamp on the bracket, and now a Rivendell bag (thanks to the Riv raffle)
