Local sporting goods store and a CR1....

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Local sporting goods store and a CR1....

So our local Scheels Sporting Goods (large sporint goods store) has had a 2006 CR1 size 56 FOREVER in their bike section. It's the Pro model with full dura ace and Ksyrium SL wheels (yuck). The price is now down to $2995.... someone come hit me in the head with a lead pipe or something, before I go buy it. I DON'T need another road bike right now.... but it is SO tempting. The framset alone retails for $2700.....

Seriously though, if anyone here is wanting a CR1 and this will fit you, drop me a PM and I can give you contact info for the store. If it goes below $2700 I'm buying the damn thing and parting it out or something

Yuck, I have not heard to many peope describe SL's that way. They may not be the lightest and they are a bit pricey but I think they are a bit better than yuck. Please educate me on what makes them "yuck"

You won't have to worry about it soon, given the interest I'm sure someone else will buy it and put you out of your misery.

Yes, Coralville Scheels. Go buy it before I break down and get it. They also have a bunch of Trek X0 cross bikes for $699.

Kysrium SL's are alright.... if you like overpriced, heavy wheels But, if they come on a bike, that isn't too bad. They are pretty sturdy. I'd say they are worth about half of retail price... anymore is ******** to pay for them. Still, having them come on a $3k CR1 is amazing. I could use them on a cross bike or something.

Doesn't the Team and Pro have a different frameset than the Team Issue?

Yea, this is the nicest one. The lower model is abotu 100 grams heavier and has 105 10 speed components. This is the Dura-Ace, bling bling bike.

Yep...saw that last time I was there and was tempted myself...and the damn thing isn't even my size. If it was a 58 it might have been to hard to pass up. Didn't know about the XO's, I could use a commuter bike. I might have to drive up tomorrow and check that out.

Is this a custom build then? 06 CR1 Pros were stocked with Ultegra and Mavic K Equipes.

Just curious as this sounds like a great deal and I'm tempted to PM a member (or anybody) to get it and ship it to me.

I mistyped.... it's the Team model... or whatever they called the top 2006 model. Their website only has the 2007 models on there now.... so I wasn't sure the actual name.

Brisco, I would love to help you out if I was anywhere remotely close. I was looking at getting a 56 from the LBS today, they would have to order it, and they said they could sell it for $3700 which I thought was a good price till I saw this. Wonder if they would ship it or if someone wants to help a BF brother out?

Why do I have to live where sporting goods stores suck? I guess thats why the only large "sporting" goods store around here anymore is called Dicks!
