New Mid-80s Nishiki Olympic
Hey everyone,
I thought you may like to see my newest, a mid-80s Nishiki Olympic. It does not say "Olympic 12" as most I've seen do, although it is a 2x6 drivetrain.
The DT shifters are a bit interesting to me in that they are mounted to a braze-on on the top of the downtube, and are Shimano Light Action.
The bartape, all cables, brake levers, tires, and seat were shot, but I re-cabled everything and used parts from my spares supply to get it running well again.
Anyone else got one of these? It rides rather nicely in my (very) limited experience.

Looks like a 1986 model. These were typically manufactured by Giant and, if so, there will be a date code stamped on the rear dropout.

By 1985, the Olympic model was really quite a nice-riding bicycle, decent quality all around and with good geometry.
It reminds me somewhat of my similar-sized, ~similar vintage (if cheaper) Motiv Defiant, shown below.
Enjoy your Nishiki!
