Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't know if it's due to being in Belize (where internet stuff behaves even more strangely than in Mexico), but I click on the link, and moments later the linked page is covered by a Yahoo blockade.

In bicycle riding news, my friend that has taken up cycling wants to get together and attempt a his first century this weekend. Should be fun. We attempted a metric last year, but he had to throw in the towel a couple miles short because of fit-related cramping (shoulders, IIRC). He went in for a professional fit earlier this year has accepted that a less aggressive position would be better for him. He has since completed a 75-mile solo ride, so that's a nice sign. Being able to sit on my wheel occasionally should get him over that 100-mile mark, I'd think.

So you're going to attack at mile 80, right?

Hmmm. Well, it's in his back yard (so to speak) and I'm not familiar with the area, so I'll have to make/import the course, first, but that sounds like a good idea.

Last night's pool tournament results. I haven't played seriously since the seventies. I guess it's like riding a bike. I bought a round with my winnings.

Ooh! U-Haul truck outside - looks like the new neighbors are moving in. I'll be heading out for a ride shortly, so it looks like I may get a chance to make a stuffed-Spandex™ first impression!

I watched this documentary last night about the Woodstock concert and noticed something stunning. Of all the footage they put together to make that film, showing all those concert fans, not a single obese person was seen in any of that footage. None. Don’t take my word for it, watch the doc on PBS. It’s truly amazing and truly sad how America’s health has deteriorated over the course of 50 years. Over 400,000 people attended that concert, and you will be hard pressed to find a fat person. It’s incredible.

Just a 3 hour journey north for us. Almost 3 days and 2 nights in Williams to escape from the heat.

I dunno if I'll ever get any sealant from Amazon. Guess I should check out Merlin, or maybe go down to Michaels to grab some latex as a base for a homebrew sealant mixture - I'm sure that's what @coasting would do if he ever went tubeless.

So I am not the only one who noticed. It's also reflected in the Woodstock film. Truly amazing. Also check out old episodes of "Soul Train." Imagine what the Brady Bunch kids would look like if the kids reflected today's reality.
