mine is being built
my new bike is being built as soon as the group gets in.
Here's the frame pic from Specialized web site. I'm building it with an Ultegra mech group. It's a warranty frame replacement for a 4 yr old middle of the road Roubaix. Nice of Specialized, eh? I can ride it for a few years, sell it and buy a new 105 equipped Roubaix if I want. We'll see.

Big 50 in a couple of weeks and I just bought my first downhill bike. It is extremely fun!!! But, the 4 miles of uphill to get the 10-12 miles of downhill is not as easy as it was 30 years ago wth my fully rigid Stumpjumper. Also, my AM bike and my single speed, given the photos were there

This is my new bike I bought. I am turning 56 next month. I'm a little different than some on the 50 + in that I like new modern technology bikes. I'm not into retro or 60's 70's or 80's. Being an engineer, I like the technology of bikes as much as I enjoy riding them. My new one is a 2014 Giant defy advanced 0 with New shimano Di-2 shifting. It really gets up and goes.

Some of the kids are still surprised when they see I have a nice collection of off road bikes and even more surprised when the discover I know how to ride them.

Glad there are other engineers. I am a PE that is a civil grad, But over the years I have designed a lot of different stuff. I have a small Engineering, Architecture, Environmental, and land surveying firm. We do Buildings (architecture, structural, MEP, & Civil) and we also do a lot of infrastructure design (roads, Bridges, storm water, wastewater treatment and collection, drinking water supply and distribution and many other things.
The engineer in me loves the new technology in bikes and I usually get a new one every 3-4 years just to enjoy the technological advancements.

I think there are a few engineers on the 50+, and being one of them I've begun to appreciate the best of both new technology and old craftsmanship. (Not to say there isn't new craftsmanship.) As in my professional practice, sometimes its nice to admire beautiful simplicity.

That's a freaking beautiful bike. I'm not familiar with Focus- can you tell us a little about this one? How's the ride, what else did you consider, and what made you buy it? I like the riding position, looks relaxed and good for few hours of spinning.
