Have you bought a new cycling jersey lately? Like, in the last year or so? Care to share?
After riding either plain wool jerseys/sweaters or regular street clothes for many years, I recently decided to get an actual cycling jersey. I started looking on Nashbar and eBay and other sites, and I didn't see anything I wanted. Some were kinda cool, most were just ugly, none appealed to me. They all seem to advertise something, and not something I have any affiliation with, nor even much fondness. I'd probably go for one with the cover of an old Kinks album or the like, or maybe even SunTour, but that's about as far as I was willing to go.
But since I'm actually a dues paying member, I got a couple in PA Randonneurs livery, a long sleeve wool one and a short sleeve plastic one.

I'm with you. Street clothes. I do have a 3/4 sleeve jersey I wear, just to stay cool. Not new though. This one, in black and white. Actually, I have two the same, and rotate them.

Eroica is part cosplay (a term I learned from my teenage daughters), so I decided to break down and get a woolie from Oregon Cyclewear. The embroidery was custom. @nlerner had sent me a few items gratis, so I decided to return the favor.

Okay, I will play. Top one is Cycles Macarani and the second is one of the $30 jobs from China. I just got it so no chance to ride with it yet. Figured for the price it was worth a shot. Probably should have held out for the Cycles Macarani version and may yet buy one of the same from them.

Here is my New Jersey. Mom circa 1967 +/-, learning to ride in front of the house. She never did learn, sports wasn't her thing. Cooking was where it was at.

It's not actually "new", but it's the most recent one I've purchased. I had this exact jersey brand new "back in the day" and somehow lost it. I found the exact match on ebay so had to buy it.

I haven't gotten one recently but I do need a new summer jersey. I don't do advertising or graphics with lettering. NO. Not at all. I was looking at some of the jerseys Voler sells. Made locally. Kind of nice. Also Kucharik is still in business. They mostly only do plain solid colors, but I can live with that. In some ways my taste is conservative. OTOH there is a real functional need to be visible, hence the historical use of obnoxious colors in cycling jerseys. A couple years ago I bought a Chinese made jersey off Amazon, because all the Euro jerseys at the time were even more tasteless than the American ones. They had the coolest designs, the price was good, and frankly I've been very happy with the function.
FWIW the fit racer type kids these days seem to be wearing simpler jerseys with solid colors and/or geometric patterns. Some can be pretty cool in a not retro at all sort of way. The team jerseys thing is dying off, a bit too slowly IMO. Mostly seems confined to the weekend warriors.

Garneau Lemmon II jersey. Mostly I needed a full zip jersey while my shoulders are recovering from injury -- couldn't get in or out of my pullover jerseys. And the Lemmon II has a classic plain color style with subtle accents.
It's the thinnest material I could find that was still fabric at all. Perfect for this brutal 100+F summer heat. The main fabric is poly wicking fabric but feels like ultra-thin fine cotton or wool. The side and collar are mesh. Very comfortable this summer.

Cycling jerseys from Coolibar. Their thing is sun preotection so their jerseys are long sleeve, which actually is more comfortable than sun screen.

The Caddy test drive promo jersey! I have one in black. I think it was back around 2009 or 2010, and Cadillac was running a promo coinciding with the Tour. Come in and test drive a Caddy and get a free premium Goirdana jersey.... IIRC, they were a little overwhelmed with demand. I didn't get mine until the following January...

Ah, I see some don't like wearing flashy colors. I guess I don't mind at all. I often wear muted colors, but I also wear flashy colors at times. I even wear a bright Hawaiian shirt at work sometimes. It cheers people up. I understand the idea of not wanting to draw attention to yourself and what you're wearing, but I'm OK with grabbing attention sometimes. Today, I'm wearing a very muted dark blue polo shirt and grey trousers, so I'm not always flashy.
