Bottle cage suggestions.

So, I finished up my winter rebuild this week and am realizing how bad the bottle cages clash with the rest of the look. The bike is an unknown year CAAD4 R500. Obviously this isn't factory paint, I had it sprayed with titanium gray and prison pink (yes that is the actual color designation) H series Cerakote. I am seriously considering having just the small chain ring sprayed in pink as well just for a little bit of color in that area.

I want to go back to a regular wire style cage, but what to do for color?

raw aluminum, aluminum with the titanium gray, aluminum with the prison pink, anodized pink ti?

Pic of my bike as it currently sits.

If your going back to wire cage style I would get them the prison pink like the stem or a chrome like your seat post.

Seat post is polished aluminum. Been considering hitting it with scotchbrite to knock down the luster.

My theory is that the cage is an inherently unattractive piece of equipment and to make it invisible as possible by matching the frame color. Also, if you put on a pink cage, are you also going to have pink bottles?

I wouldn't be opposed to pink water bottles. I only have one right now. Used to carry a bluetooth speaker in one, hence the ugly large ratchet style cage on there now. My current bottle is gray though.

My problem is that if I had to drink from a pink bottle, my brain is probably going right to associations with Pepto Bismol.

Just my opinion, the pink is out of place.

I was going to say almost the same thing.... But to make it invisible, leave them black. Pink or silver or frame color cages will just call too much attention to them.

Pink cage on the seatpost, chrome to match the seatpost on the downtube.

Pink cages if your bottles are gray. Gray cages if your bottles are pink.

Titanium gray to match the frame. Seat post would look good if it matched the crank, but I'm not sure doing that would be technically feasible.

I happen to dislike the color pink which you obviously don't, so I always approach these questions as "assuming I like the same colors as OP, what would I do?"

If it were me, I'd discount any replies that say you shouldn't have used pink.

Get some pink cages. I think Arundel makes some in that shade of pink.

I do think the idea should be to make them less visible (since there's enough pink accent as-is in my opinion) - and I agree with Reflector Guy in part because IMHO when you have the cage differently-colored (esp. with a neutral: silver, black) what it actually does is HIGHLIGHTS the shape of the frame. So that's what the focus becomes: the triangle, the frame itself, and the cage fades away unless one examines it directly.

If I go pink and aluminum, I was going to have the same shop spray them with a matching pink, so color purchased won't matter. If I go titanium, they would be raw brushed finish, or anodized pink.

Love the bike, and the color scheme! There are some bright bits with the seat post, brake calipers, and crank, you could get some brushed stainless or aluminum bottle holders. REI sells a grayish stainless one that I used on a build. You could also paint them to match the frame. Pink ones might be a bit too much, just have to try it and see, looks really good so far.

Cerakote is fun stuff. The builder of Engin built this for himself several years ago. I considered doing mine in pink, but when I get the test tube from the applicator it looked too much like bubble gum. I didn't want to wait for another try so I went with a greenish color.

Love the stuff. I have also done mouse pads for gamers with it.

They do have some other shades of pink as well. This is one of the brighter shades, but it matches what Rolf Prima uses on their hubs.

It likely has something to do with the way the bike is staged in front of the car and license plate, but I had to go back to see if there were any bottle holders on it now. I didn't even notice them at first glance.

imo, since the "wire" of the cages will be smaller than what you have in use now, I'd stay with black & "pink" the hardware holding them on. Or get really snazzy & frame color the outer half of the cages & pink the inner half, while using black hardware.
