Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We had a good ride today. We got some bad intel about a bridge out in Maryland so we took a detour, which actually took us over a bride that was under construction. The hard hats working said it was ok to cross, but after we crossed the Man yelled at us and said we were trespassing and breaking the law and he was ANGRY. I said so sorry but we kept going.

If the authorities come after me, please consider a modest donation to the gofundme page for my bail.

Is there a road sign to mark the Mason Dixon line?

That was right at the muffed punt recovered by SF.

I was a doubter in the Cousins contract from the beginning, and I'm awfully curious how talkative the pundits will be after his week of laudation.

I was rather confused by the folks that thought the Vikings would win outright, much less cover. 4.5 point spread? In my betting days, the house would have been bet on SF.

I miss snow in North Texas. Everything shuts down there, unlike here where you are still expected to be at work even if it's not safe enough to drive.

Bought new shoes and pedals today. I suffered a rapid deceleration at the halfway point of my ride Thursday night. The new rig now has a dent in the drive side chainstay and is slightly bent. I have a friend doing damage assessment. Initial review was it should be ok. he had a bike shop BITD and still has equipment to check alignment to make sure.

I limped back with the usual scapula to buttocks involvement in addition to a direct hit to my big toe which caused a twisting of my ankle.

I will put my cleats on the new shoes along with my shims for leg length discrepancy and give it a go on the old bike tomorrow.

The front part of the rigid sole of the involved shoe was broken off requiring replacement. Pedal involved also was broken.

I don't want to do that again and advise against it.

It’s still 66 degrees out. That’s not normal.

I did not see one on our route. But there was a big “Welcome to Maryland” sign.

I am just sore and I think I'll be fine but I expect my ribs to take a couple months to heal up. Thought I might lose my toenail but it is ok. I think I landed without much forward momentum since no ripped up clothing. Yes, the awesome Marigold jacket is still perfect! Not even torn lycra.
