My new bike put together

Got my bike today it's all together and whent for the first ride and its awesome
I'm riding with 55 pound in each tire is that ok for a 300 pound rider ?

I realized after I had it all together that I put the fork on the wrong way then had to fix it real quick before the ride
Also had some issues getting the breaks adjusted so whent to the shop and 10. Dollars they did the breaks
I feel some lag in shifting changing gears from 1 to 2
Is there a tutorial I can watch or read that will explain shifter better to me ?
Maybe I'm not doing it right
It's been so long

You tube has videos that cover tons of bike assembly and shifting things. Congrats on the bike and riding the trails.
