Lightbulb Building a 4 wheeled Cargo bike!

Hi guys,

Im after any information and support in building this 4 wheeled E cargo bike to carry my tools and bits and bobs around central London. Here is a design I would like to copy (the company wants £14k!!) Hoping to build it under £6k. Where would be a good place to start?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I saw a piece by GCN on YouTube about electric pedal trikes.

They were expensive, but not 14K. If memory serves, they were about 8K.

There’s also the long bed cargo bikes with the big crate in front of the rider but behind the front wheel. Those are also starting at 6 to 8K. It’s the kind they use in the Netherlands. One of those would have the advantage of being narrow enough to get between cars many times. They’re called bakfiets.

Seeing a lot of results when searching on Electric Quadricycle. More than I expected. Basically a golf cart with fakie pedals. You can get a used Smartcar for like $8k.

Determine your needs first.
1. Weight carrying capacity
2. Range for operation on a single charge.
3. Desired speed for majority of your riding.
Once those are specified, you can have an idea of what motor power output & battery capacity you might need;
then the cost would have better ballpark figure to determine.
