Saw that on ebay. Too small for me but an incredible bike. His stuff is so much more interesting me than any of the European/Italian builders of the same time. Here is a pic of my Ritchey Touring bike.

Wow, very nice looking tourer you have there. Those old Ritcheys are a unique and well built frame.

Apparently I'm not supposed to post eBay links. Oops, sorry about that!

You had Bilenky do that as I recall...

I like yours a lot more than the repaint on eBay.

Bastard build for now. Put it together to ride the local logging roads. I have a bit of a Ritchey fetish but this is the only road frame that fits to come my way.

Early 80's Ritchey road:

I am blessed to have a few of his Mtn bikes also.

One of my "holy grail" bikes is a Ritchey Swiss Cross. I recently picked up a Ritchey Breakaway Cross, which has similar geometry, but tig construction -- and of course, it's designed as a travel bike as well. They have reintroduced the Swiss Cross, as well, but I want one of the old, all-steel ones.

Nice, if hyperbolically described, mid-&0s lugged Ritchey on ebay:

Not mine, and no relation to the seller.

An old thread, but clearly a thread in need of a new Ritchey Road bike photo.

Stunning LeicaLad!! It's a thing of beauty.

I posted this one earlier this week in another thread from Sunday's ride.

Stop that you guys! You're making me both jealous and repentant.

I rode on the same team with Tom in the Mid Seventies when he was building his first few frames. I had to choose between ordering a frame from him and buying one of those fancy Bob Jacksons with the two-tone paint job. I made the wrong choice! Adding insult to injury was the fact that the rear brake bridge on the Jackson failed on the first ride. Seems someone forgot to braze it on one side: It was only held in place by the paint. Tom graciously repaired it for me.

Yes, please. And, details of its history, too. Plus the serial #, please.

By the time he was using that decal, he was building very, very few road frames.

We love seeing these!

I'm afraid I'm computer illiterate because I can't figure out how to upload the whole bike pic. I tried and failed. File to large at 2.99mb, it said. Sorry. Nothing worse than a tease.

I bought the frame/fork from Excel Sports Boulder in late '95 or '96. I already owned the 1995 Record group to hang on it, so Tom may have built it in '96. Long time ago, sorry. If I can't figure a way to upload the other pics, know that the fillet brazing is to perfection and the bike rides the same.

Serial # 249R6

From today’s ride.

Built May 1980.

A different wheel set with mismatched and quite aged Continental tires, but they ride very nicely.

I need to re-do the bar tape. That was a temp job that I just kept riding as is. No one around here ever notices anyway.

Drive train shot.
