What kind of Strava cheating is this?

As you can see from this persons ride they go off the trail compared to mine where i stay on it and im 5 seconds slower. How does this benefit them to go off the trail like this?

another funny thing i just noticed is it says their average speed is 54 but their max is 23, how does that make sense? Also they used less power than me.

This is the KOM for this segement

Strava has its uses for personal reasons but it is also a forum for self aggrandisement by people who imagine fake claims on the internet somehow make them better.

Pics dont show for me. All i can say is its a virtual award, be thankful you have the ability to ride so well, and focus on whats important.
I am assuming a strava segment isnt actually important...since its a strava segment.

Do you mean the images aren't loading? Otherwise if you can see them he clearly goes off the trail and comes back on which is odd.

79w avg power? Dude don't worry about it. You'll be able to get that back with a bit of training.

i mean like i no where close to beating the top leaders, im just wondering why most of them go what looks like off trails for this part and all of them seem to be in top position.

On both of them, why is the average speed greater than the maximum speed?

It looks like a re-group spot or rest spot. Depending on how people handle their pausing and starting, it can have weird numbers. In addition, it's a 10 second segment, so short that even small GPS glitches can result in large anomalies. It is not cheating, it is just a meaningless segment.

One is 9 seconds long. The other is 4 seconds long. Those aren't segments, those are glitches.

Strava is great for tracking your own rides. Aside from that, all of the social media aspect of Strava caters to cyclists who, well, have nothing better to do.

I just use Strava to track my mileage, ave speed, etc to see if I'm improving. I could care less about the silly awards and the silly segments people set up.

Anyone that has time to game Strava's system is wasting time in my IMHO.
