The trick is to get a beater, paint it black, and tell your partner it is for emergencies.
The bit by bit replace everything.
Eventually you will need to get a frame ... but nowadays most frames are black anyway .... you can cover the decals with electrical tape.

The bike is still going strong.
Newer ones probably ride better, but have a stupid seat post clamp,
and I'm loath to break up the 10 speed stable, or to spend $$$.

Looks like surface scratches to me. Don't think it has structural damages, but you never know. Did you have the frame inspected? I would have wrapped the whole thing instead. New color = new bike (well, sort of). lol
