Fairdale Rocketship

Any one have one of these? My bike shop has one in my size and was wondering about any real world experience with it- not much out there online.

I don't have one, but would have considered/purchased a couple of their bikes if they came in a larger size. Its a relatively smaller brand.
good marketing company- nice story to make their tubing seen unique. Its quality tubing for sure, but it's still generic Asian tubing spec'd to their need...same as all city, black mountain, etc.
I emailed with them in early '18 about their size and tubing specs...they won't give out their tubing specs. Not surprised, but at the same time when they market their tubing as so unique but don't actually offer details, it's tough to sort thru the haze and find whats real and whats just words.

I wouldn't hesitate to get a frame if they had one in my size. Nice tubing, nice fork, nice price.

Most of the stuff I've read on them is that they make a nice frame but they're heavy so you basically getting common steel garnished with some marketing. Run of the mill 4130 Chromoly it seems.

I've got no specific info re their Rocketship but I've been interested in their tubing ,bikes etc. for some time. Found this.

They've got some chops, value oriented pricing and nicely engineered. I don't agree with the "heavy". There is a comp. with a Gunnar in that thread. The Fairdale did well.

Japanesse steel. They look like a good company if you like steel. They have had absolutely killer deals on their road bikes if they have your size in stock.

A Fairlight Secan frame in size 56 is 1980g Reynolds 853 and they even give you the exact tube sizes for every part.

A Fairdale Rockitship frame in size 56 is 2350g plus all the dawnright marketing mumbo jumbo.

You are mistaken. The steel is custom-drawn Japanese tubing, in which the tubes are butted specifically for each frame size, and the fork is an Enve CX that weighs 461 grams. The Rockitship that I rode was a prototype, but if the final version is anything like it, it's perhaps the smoothest riding bicycle I've ever thrown a leg over. Telepathic handling. If I had the scratch, one would be in my garage right now.

That is one giant blurb of marketing speak on that page. Not a single mention of tube sizes or any of the sort.

Now using Fairlight as an example.
  • Custom butted and formed Reynolds 853/853-DZB front triangle.
  • Custom 0.8/0.5./0.8 Reynolds 853 top tube. 20 x 30mm oval.
  • Custom 1.0/0.8/0.5/0.8 Reynolds 853 Gravel DZB (double zonal butted) down tube. 30 x 40mm bi-oval.
  • Custom formed 4130 rear end. 19mm round chainstays @ 0.9mm wall thickness. 14mm non-taper seat stays @ 0.8mm wall thickness.

Your impressions of the Rockitship would be much more relevant to the OP if you rode one.
