Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Can you use BH90 hose with BR-RS785 calipers?

I am putting together a new 2016 Sworks Tarmac Di2 Disc brake frame set. This would be SL5 disc brake bike. Since the SL5 disc frame runs a post mount caliper the only one available from Shimano is the BR-RS785 which uses BH59 brake hose. I decided to upgrade to the newer Ultegra ST-8070 shift levers for the buttons on the hoods which the older ST-R785 levers do not have, plus the new ones are 140g lighter! Issue is the new levers use the BH90 hose which uses a smaller ID and different barb insert.

I have the bike all plumbed with the BH90 with the correct silver bard inserts but I am not 100% you can use BH90 hose with the BR-RS-785 calipers? I am pretty sure it will work but if anyone has info please lmk.
Thanks

I looked into this in the Spring of 2018, so I don't remember where I found the information, but you want the hoses to match the lever.

The newer levers use the smaller ID hoses, so you'll be fine. If you used the hoses with the larger ID, the lever would require more throw.

Thanks, I am running to smaller line and silver barbs with the new levers. I am going to wrap it up tonight and finally bleed the brakes then.

I got it all together and bled and it seems like it will work. Brakes seem to require more pull than I thought they would need but the brakes work really well.
Thanks everyone.
