Can the walmart ezip be upgraded to 36v?

I'm pretty sure there's members here who have run their EZIPs at 36v. The big issue is HEAT. To help prevent melting your motor, you can take the metal cover off and drill holes to allow air flow inside the motor casing. Not sure how the controller will hold up. I'm sure someone will "chime-in" and give you more details (I've never done this myself)...

i have a overvolted izip i believe they are the same motor and controller
my controller is 24v 35amp and is stock
i have never had a heating issue and drove this hard from day 1
last year i put 4200km all but 20 at 42v or higher
1/3 at 55v mostly in fall and at night
before i would start drilling i would put a 20 dollar wireless temp probe on and moniter the temp
try not to lug around at to low throttle it heats the motor just hammer down and coast
it also increases your mileage as well as keep the heat down
do you have a heat issue?
drilling i think would kill wet weather ability imo

one other important thing i took my controller apart to see the caps
and they are rated to 63v...check yours out first....good luck
ps you will never go back to 24v...

For your very insightful post im getting the idea i took my bike out yesterday and got about 13 to 14 miles with alot of assist from me, then the battery just about died about a mile from home. All of this with the curry pack, and i came to these conclusions= The bike needs more power and torque , the battery life kinda sucks, the bike itself is heavy. But on the brighter side it is a blast to ride!
Oh and i havent uprgraded to 36v yet -im just trying to get all my info together so i can decide which is the best way to do it. I could also just hook and 12v battery to my currie pack and get 36v right?

Yeah
Thanks wasp- im also considering adding just a 6v - 7ah battery to get 30v just get that little extra kick,still stay legal and not worry about too much overheating-and keep it all more light weight.
