That's kind of her trademark; it's a wonder she can type, being drunk all the time.
But hey, if I can do it, I'm sure she can.
BG, are those JATO bottles on the fork? I think we've discussed the hazards of rocket-powered bikes before.

1992 Vitus 979 with Mavic Mektronic RD (update)
Below are a set of photos of the Vitus ready for the road with the Gilles Berthoud Soulor saddle, Rivendell tool roll and stainless water bottles. Technically it just came from the road after a thirty mile run maiden run with the saddle and tool roll. So far I have three hundred miles on the bike.

1986 Vitus 979 with Mavic Group
Below are a couple of photos of my normal 1986 Vitus with all Mavic group. The seat is a Brooks Pro and the bar tape is also Brooks.

The crowning touch is the leather-wrapped handlebar supporting those space-age levers. Talk about juxtaposition that - at least in this case - works.
A fine machine

@whatwolf that looks fantastic. SOMA Hwy 1 bars? Are those Cosmics set up with a Campy freehub or are you using a Mavic or some other conversion cassette? I have a set of Cosmics just like that and can't find a campy freeehub to fit them to save my life.

I have to assume you're going to go with a threadless adaptor and modern stem?
So what kind of stem are you going with? I mentioned in our PMs that the Ritchey classic is nice/pretty but a little fat in contrast our small diameter steel tubes. I believe controltech makes a thinner silver modern threadless stem (lots of them on eBay).

The bike's now at 20 lbs. I've been looking for a newer crank - think I'll be down under 20 if I find one I like.

Beautiful bike, but this thread is for old frames with brifters...

curious...what clamp size is that? I guess with a threadless conversion, 31.8 clamps aren't a problem, but I have been on the hunt for a bar like what you have there (Ritchey Classic I presume) with a 26mm clamp.

It's 31.8 and yes, it's the Ritchey Classic. There aren't a lot of shallow drop choices at 26mm and I'm not even sure you could thread them through a stem because the bend is so sharp.

You can quote me in regards to Bontrager - I've got two of them. I tried one with the original stem on my Centurion Ironman, and it was a bear getting it in there due to the sharp bends. If you can live without the quill stem, I'd go with a 31.8mm stem and bar instead; a lot more choices.

Thanks. Yes, hwy one. I like them. On the wheels it's actually just the shimano free hub and a DA cassette re-spaced to campy.

I like them a lot, and have them on a couple bikes now. I agree with you that the ride is very different from other tires. I've ridden maybe 5-600 miles on veloflex... no flats
