I don't know if this is wacky or slightly creepy, but check out out the pics:

44 VINTAGE 1920's 1950's PEUGEOT THOMANN AS ALCYON DIANTY SELCO ARGENTA BIKES

I can see this being some of the forum members' collections in 50 years time.

My Centurion LeMans 12 was Champion 5, it's basic cro-mo, I don't think it was butted. Not gas pipe, but nothing special, either.

It would be fun to poke around the collection. Getting it from France to the USA would likely cost as much as the bikes.

About $100 per bike isn't too high, but there wouldn't be much profit left if one wanted to buy the bikes, restore them, and sell them for $100 - $200 (are there a few more valuable gems, in the right community?)

It might not hurt to make a few local contacts. At least the person took time enough to write a message that seemed to make sense. Craigslist anonymizes the e-mail doesn't it. Can one block individual senders if the correspondence goes bad?

All is not as it seems.

Antique Bicycle - $500

I think I saw that bike at the local bike co-op for a lot less than $500 a couple of weeks ago.

I don't think the "antique" Penny Farthing bikes had 36" pneumatic wheels.

In fact, I'm pretty sure this is a Coker Wheelman, of relatively recent production, although perhaps the new ones have a straight rear end, so it could be a couple of years old.

And even fewer pictures. No doubt folks looking for a $1000 Paramount are likely to endeavor to buy it sight unseen.

[h=2]Trek Ace Road Bike - $200[/h]https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hnp/bik/4996035815.html

I have a Trek Ace road bike in good condition. Might need just a tad tune up from sitting all winter but otherwise in good condition. Some knicks and scratches from regular riding nothing serious. I believe its a 58 cm. I'm 5' 10" And rides good for me with the seat down.

Coker Wheelmans are $900, so maybe not a bad deal anyway, if that's what you're into...

True... I still don't think I'd call it an "antique".

Maybe I should see if the co-op still has their 36" unicycles that showed up a couple of weeks ago (I think they had both the wheelman and the unicycles, but perhaps I got them confused).

It should be pretty easy to convert the 36" unicycle into a 36" penny farthing.

To the best of my recollection, you could get a brand new Hummer bike at Sams Club for around $300. It appears to have a Shimano Tourney rear derailleur, which, in dead-mint condition is worth about $5.

There are times when I'm heavily loaded, and a little lower gearing would be nice. However, I think I would need outriggers to go any slower.

Perhaps the buyer got confused between the price of his Hummer car vs the Hummer bicycle.

I'm seeing other NEW? Hummers on E-Bay for $360 with V-Brakes, and $800 with 2 wheel disc brakes and cast alloy spoke wheels (is that good?) Elsewhere for $860 with spokes and dual disc brakes.

It appears as if at least some of them have an aluminum alloy frame. The one above looks like it has an alloy fork, and removable chainrings.

It has the front disc, and rear v-brakes. That puts it above the $360 models, but below the $850 models.

Perhaps $500 would be an acceptable price if the seller would take the time to wash the mud off of the bike.

However... since it has a "Make Offer" option, go ahead in put in a $100 offer and see if the seller takes it.

Anybody up for some almost new pedals?

pedals - $50 (springfield)

Support your local Craigslisters....

Shimano A530 Clipless Road Pedals | Chain Reaction Cycles - $35.99 (Silver)
Shimano A530 SPD Single Sided Touring Pedals | Merlin Cycles - $37.95 (Black)

Now, REI (which does have a local store) lists both models for slightly over $50... but....

I don't even know where to start with this. The link he supplied is to a carbon fiber model not his steel model, and even then, list the price at a max used price of $259. His "excellent condition" shows mega scratches in every photo. Doesn't say the frame size, but available sizes. Picture of a tire is the rear good one, not the front dry rotted one. I suppose he is holding the plastic pedal to show that the toe straps and worn and the buckle is rusted. Am I missing anything?
