I was the last post on that thread. If I were to guess, and that's all this is, someone did not like my critique of the welding quality on that bikes frame. The thread went full Amelia Earhart following my post. It may just be coincidence though.

Very easy for the OP to ask the mods to delete the thread. I've done this on for sale threads where I moved the bike or part onto Ebay at a significantly higher price. Didn't want to create a problem with the ultimate buyer....

Didn't realize that threads could be deleted except when mods deem them inappropriate for some reason. Interesting bike, but agree with above remark about construction quality. The welds looked (to me) like they were from a basic welding class.

Before you posted did you read the links in the earlier posts? Or my original post for that matter? The bike is a Battle Tomahawk built in Encampment Wyoming. One of only 50 made. Yes I agree I have seen better welds. But they seem hell for strong. As does the rest of the bike, Found at a local co-op for $60. And it is an absolute hoot to ride. It is a work in process... Would you pass on it? Because of the welds?

I'm surprised by this stance from you. I know of your bias against Colnagos (you have a tendency to point it out in posts here and there), for instance. I don't know what caused it, but I doubt you'd be influenced to fall in love with one were you to ride one. So why be surprised others might not think what you like isn't their cup of tea?

To be fair you lot rag on aluminum welding regardless of the quality. I've seen the most amazing examples called all sorts of names. Apparently they are junk if not sanded down to look smooth like a Cannondale.

Wrong; as a career fabricator/cadd designer, I can actually appreciate a good weld. No need to sand them down ala Cannondale and Klein. That is done purely for aesthetics. Then again, I also appreciate nice clean fillet brazing.

#2 ) As a fabricator, yes, I will walk past things that don't look "correct". Will those welds hold? Likely, they've already lasted this long. Am I going to spend money on the bike that's wearing them? No. But others are welcome to.
#3 ) It is likely a unique example of MTB evolution. Look at the rear drops: that really resembles, to me anyway, the "new" active braking pivot Trek uses on it's line of off road bikes.
