Addiction LXXVII

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm an accomplished procrastinator. I've been meaning to do something about this condition but between one thing and another have not found the time. Already daylight begins noticeably earlier and soon Spring will be here with birds chirping their hearts out in search of mates, squirrels will be scampering about and seagulls wheeling overhead. This all signifies Spring and the beginning of cycling season and again it will be too late to deal with procrastinitis. Maybe next year.

So it looks like the ultegra group deal may be happening. Now I'm wondering if I could still get a hookup on a new frameset from the shop. When I worked there, it was understood that employees leaving on good terms get the cost+10 hookup for life. I would email, but I would want to have cash on hand before throwing out a big ask like that.

Then I'll just need wheels. And a seatpost. And a saddle. And bars. And well, you know the rest.

You had better inform them of the stereotypes and tell them to get with the program.

If not, there are deals to be had online, which is why I have the Cervelo - Excel had them at $1200 (now $1k, but sizes are limited). Anyway, look and ye shall find.

Lots of crack dealers that don't necessarily sell crack. Puppies are a new one on me, but I can see it. Bikes and bike stuff were evident from the get-go.

I'm jealous!

I wasn't able to get out until almost 4:30 after work. Managed 22 miles, but once again after the sun went down I started to freeze.

Is it summer yet?

It is REAL hard getting used to a 10,000 mile oil change interval in these modern day cars. Feels like you’re neglecting your car, I keep checking with the service department to make sure.

I can remember those sun-setting rides with the rapid chilling effect back in my working days. Even now when I ride during the day, I can notice a change around 3 PM when the sun angle starts getting low.

So I just got out of the shower and noticed something odd. My left leg where it meets my hip and my right leg don’t look the same. Left leg almost looks more defined, clearly able to distinguish where the leg muscle stop and where the hip meets the side of the abdominal. The right side is less noticeable. I’m assuming it’s just muscle mass forming from riding? My left leg developing slightly more than my right?
My left leg used to swell and I go to a vascular surgeon for it every 6 months. The swelling has pretty much stopped, i’ve had several ultra sounds and mri no clots. Pretty much told me I am a medical mystery, I don’t think this has anything to do with the above.
Thoughts?

Popped the Cervelo on to the trainer and threw a leg over it for the first time. My fit set-up was surprisingly good, having just made adjustments based on the geometry chart.

What wasn't good, though, was the sound. Holy moly. It was the first time I'd spun the Assaults on the trainer and, with the street tire, carbon wheel and the frame, which seems more cavernous than the Domane (both thinner walls and larger diameter, I think), it resulted in a disconcerting resonance. I'll try popping the trainer wheel/tire on it tomorrow - hopefully it'll sound a little less scary.

We're on the every 5000 km plan until it goes off warranty. A scam. And on yesterday's 30,000 km check-up they charged double the normal rate because they rotated the tires and changed the air filter. Which was filthy btw
