I was out of the saddle climbing up a small hill when a young girl in a car driving by reached out, slapped my ass. Scared the hell out of me.

Hmmm, the time I helped a hottie catch her runaway horse? Maybe the time an auto wheel rolled past me within inches as I approached an intersection followed by a 3 wheeled car? Or the time somebody tried to hit me with a water balloon and for some reason I slapped it at just the right moment and it smashed back into her in the cab?
Thank God most commutes are just boring, plain old get to work exercise.

Rode under a 3 foot diameter falling tree that would have killed me if I had been riding a little slower. Missed me by a few feet moving at 20 mph.

A large wheel (tire and rim) came off a truck and went rolling and bouncing down the street at probably 45 mph or faster, just missing me. It happened so fast that I didn't have time to react or get frightened, but it was pretty scary when I thought about it later.
I'm always surprised when people roll down their windows and start talking to me while waiting at red lights, which has happened a number of times. So far, they have all been friendly and complimentary.

One night as I was riding home in the dark through a not-so-nice part of the city, I had to slam on my brakes to avoid hitting three small boys on bikes. Without exageration, I would say they were an eight year old on a BMX bike, a five year old on a 12"-tire bike, and a three year old on a big wheel. They were crossing a four-lane city street. They were in the shadows between street lights and wearing dark clothes. I didn't see them until the last second even with my headlights on. The little one was thrilled - pumping his fists in the air and grinning.
In retrospect, I should have pulled out my cell phone and called 911 then and there so that a police officer could escort them home. I was so surprised that it just didn't occur to me until I was a mile down the road.

I had a flat tire on the side of a busy road on a dark and rainy morning. The crazy part is that a person in a car actually stopped and asked if I needed help.

When I lived in rural Missouri I had a close call with a doe jumping out of the bushes across my path.
I also removed a juvenile, very beautiful Copperhead from a trail a couple of years ago. Joggers couldn't believe it. Jeezzz -- I see hawks, yellow legs, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, deer, geese, and all kinds of great stuff by riding a bicycle that I'd never see when driving. That's one of the perks .
I got this guy 2 summers ago on the C & O towpath:

I saw a guy all scratched up, who had fallen of the side of a local MUP. I stopped to see if he was ok. He started on a diatribe about people missing appointments and only caring about beauty. This not so svelte guy then pulled up his shirt and asked if i thought he was fat or cute....exposing a .38 stuck in his shorts in addtions to his belly. I took off. Best I can determine is that some people put craigslist ads up for "assignations" and this guy was stood up

I don't think I've had anything crazier than getting road raged at, with the shouting and andrenaline that goes with that. Somehow those 15 blocks of urban riding just don't generate a whole lot of excitement most days. And good thing, too.

Squeaky Wheel
Descending a hill at 27MPH I ran over (and killed) a rabbit about a year ago.
A few months ago I had three knucklehead teenagers buzz me at high speed, screaming out of the open windows only to run into the ditch alongside the road when the car in front of them (that had passed me normally) stopped for oncoming traffic to turn left. I suspect that the knuckleheads were looking back at me and not forward and could not stop in time and ran into the ditch rather than rear-end the turning car. Sometimes justice is served.

I was scooting at a moderate pace up an incline in the bike lane of a freeway overpass when a guy of about 6ft tall passed me riding his baby sister Barbie bike. You know, one of those kiddies bike with little pink rims and pom pom hanging on the edge of the handlebar
The guy was standing and leaning over holding the handle and flying like nobody's business. He much have been in a super rush to go somewhere and took whatever means of transportation that was available.

Devil's Advocate
Long time ago I was rushing uptown through Chelsea when a couple of rednecks (literally) in an old bakery truck drew up along side me and began hurling invective. Dunno why they were so pissed at me, I hadn't cut them off or anything and was riding as fast as traffic, but in those days I weighed about 130 and at 6' tall, would often find myself the object of contempt among a certain class of gentlemen. Anyway these guys next began swerving back and forth across the avenue's four lanes in an attempt to either to run me off the road or commit vehicular homicide. But their intentions were soon thwarted when they plowed into a lamp post ahead of me, jack knifing their truck and squashing flat its cab. Needless to say I did not stop to call 911.

Well, let's see.
I got slapped on the butt once, had a water balloon thrown at me at a stop light another time and was sprayed by a skunk that I must have scared when I rode past it.
The weirdest thing was about 13-14 years ago, though. I took off at about 5:30 am and was not too far away from the house riding past a park when a big boat of a car pulled over in my lane and stopped with its headlights in my eyes. I stopped and waited a few seconds then pulled over into the grass. The car then pulled over into the grass in kind of a face-off. I waited a bit wondering where this was going to go when the car slowly pulled away. The windows were tinted, so, I never got to see who was behind the wheel.

I once saw the Mr. Peanut balloon float by overhead. That was pretty surreal.

I think tonight would count as crazy....
Maybe 100 yards from my driveway, in cold, wind, and darkness, my lights showed gray fur and glowing eyes in the street; knowing there were cats around, I didn't slow down....
....Until I saw it was a half-grown raccoon, who did a quick turn and scampered off into the driveway of the neighbor across the street!
Normally, those little heathen scavengers don't turn tail from much of anything around here.... Not since my old husky, anyway. God, I miss her.....

Keep in mind my morning commute is at 2am..
Morning after 4th of July festivities came across a couple "in flagrante delecto" right beside the MUP. She was on top and never missed a beat. Fireworks that night I tell ya.
Two days later just arrived at work to see one of the local ladies of the night walk past me on the sidewalk with not a stitch of clothing on from the waist down. I needed eye bleach for that one.
