BMC TT02 frame. Now, what do I put on it?

I am currently in my winter season mood, i.e. looking at all the endless possible parts to build the perfect weigth/price ratio TT bike. Enjoy my anticipated build and feel free to post any comments or suggestion that could help me or destroy my opponnents.

Personally if you are going to spend that much on a crankset, I'd look at putting the funds towards a Power2Max or used wired SRM...

FWIW I like the SRAM red and kinda wish I hadn't made the Shimano decision so hastily during my build. The extra money you put towards the crank is better put towards wheels, IMHO.

Looks like you got a cool winter project ahead of you. Have fun

I don't find PF aero bars comfortable. Just picked up some vision ones, feel soo much better!

Volna aerobars come with ski-bend extensions, just like my (discontinued?) Lightning Stryke.

Which is a fine shape - for clip-ons. If I had to put my shifters in the extensions, I'd get flat or S-Bend extensions. Profile's Ski-Bend ones are supremely comfortable, but I wouldn't think so if I had to shift from them.

Interesting. I went from Vision Tech Integrated bars with Ski ends to 3T Mistral bars with S bends (had to change bars to be UCI compliant - I'm also racing road ITT's on the bike). Never found the S - Bends comfortable even on shorter races. Also I have found with the forearms being lower meant my shoulders are up a little higher so less aero.

I have now bought ski extensions and will be swapping back out to these. If the ends are at the right height, there is no issues changing gears with ski extensions.

If it were me, I would just get whatever is cheaper between a red or dura ace groupo.

Is there really any difference between bar-end red and dura ace (non-electric). There is obviously going to be a difference between the STI versions...but bar ends should function nearly identically right?

you would think they should be the same, but sram and shimano have different pull ratios, so make sure to match up your derailleurs to your shifters.

What crank size are you going for? 50/34 or 53/39?

SRAM shifters (and Zipp's and the newly-released Campagnolo TT-shifters) return to the center ("R2C") after every shift - Dura-Ace doesn't.

Actually I'm hesitating between 54/39 and 53/39. I would never go compact.

Things like cranksets and groupsets make little difference in your actual time. If you like Red, go Red all around.

The Firecrest 808 are probably the best time trial front wheel out right now.

I'd buy your aerbar based on your fit needs. It's always better to use aerobar spacers as opposed to stem spacers. If you need a "low" bar, this is pretty sweet:

Force front Derailleur versus RED. 1090S chain and cassette is junk - chain clatter and noisy., run Ultegra chain and rear cassette.

Only the RTC SRAM's do ( https://www.sram.com/sram/road/produc...-aero-shifters ) The TT900's and the TT500's are just like DA in that they don't return to center.
