New Schwalbe Hurricane

Interesting tire. Like if a Rambler and Byway had a baby of sorts. Comes in 700x40 plus other larger sizes.

smooth rolling center, lugs for gravel corners, low rolling resistance - could be interesting

they do tend to look better in person than these CAD renderings...

I might be blind but those two look absolutely nothing alike.

WTB makes a byway

Vittoria makes a fish scale center with outside lugs (that works beautifully)

Schwalbe comes along and makes a bad mimic of the Vitoria with a center tread that came from a Vee Rubber Vee tire speedsteer BMX tire.

Umm congrats?

IDK, I still have some panaracer mountain bike tires from the 90's that have that basic tread pattern. They were my favorite tire on that bike - so I'm good with anything with that style on dirt/hardpack. Far as I can tell, they are all derivative from that...

Everything good in biking came from the 1990's.

Umm congrats?
Both tires have a smoother center and tread on the sides.

Besides that, these tires look as similar as my gravel bike to any of my road bikes. They both have wheels, handlebars, and a saddle so apparently they look alike.

The Vittoria Drys are pretty proven now. Schwalbe makes some great tires too, but we need some comments from people that have experienced these first hand to see how they perform. I would say the Schwalbes are going to shake your teeth out on fast curvy paved roads though with than set of huge lugs on the sides! The Terreno lugs are pretty far over the sides so you have to really be leaning to get those to buzz on asphalt...

I have some older Hurricanes where the smooth strip goes all the way out to the small knob section of the newer version.

Having just ridden some Panasonic Gravel King SK tires (as in Small Knobs) I can see how the small knob addition probably wouldn't have much effect on rolling resistance, but still improve traction.

So, I wouldn't call it a complete copy of the other tires, more a refinement of the older Hurricanes, though I don't know which came first.

Edit: so yeah, like Spoonrobot's pic, if you substitute the older Hurricane for the first tire.

Edit 2: darn, I'm completely misremembering the tire:
