Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

We've been informed, by the national weather service, to expect a warmer and wetter November than we're used to. Yesterday I got as far as moving my bike out to the porch. This morning was heavily overcast at dawn, and raining steadily as we speak. I might just have to get used to riding wet.

Sweet bikes, ls. And Strat.

ls is old school with the sperm decal Assaults. Ebay has black decals. I have a photo somewhere. And be careful on the descents.

Really? I would live in constant fear that the next bunny hop or time off the curb and my bike comes apart.

I woke up to daylight, looked at my phone/fitbit and saw that it was 6:xx. After working my way downstairs for the morning coffee, I was confused to see the non-connected clocks (microwave, oven, etc) showing 8:xx.

I asked the wife if she had adjusted them the wrong way last night. Nope, she hadn't touched them. Looked online and saw that, post-DST adjustment, it was actually 7:xx, so my phone had gone back two hours instead of one. Poking around in my time/date settings showed the correct time for my "Home" location, but one hour back for my current location. Uh, so if I'm not at home, where the hell am I? In the Mountain time zone, according to my phone.

So, yeah, the clock went back, correctly, and then something else screwed up changed my location, resulting in the two hour change. WTF Google?

Awesome, navy blue is one of my favorite colors.

I had the opportunity to pick a new 4Runner in that color recently, and I really wanted that color, but they only had it with a cream-colored interior. I decided that simply would not work as a dog owner, especially now when she's a pup. Reluctantly settled for a black model with grey interior.

Wow. It takes a special kind of stupid to see dozens of cars piled up on the curb and still think, "I got this."

I spent five hours at the courthouse yesterday representing people with outstanding warrants. The court, probation, DA's Office, PD's Office, Sheriff's Office, defense and immigration bar put on a program for people with outstanding warrants to come in and deal with their cases. No one gets arrested, no one got arrested, and no one went to jail. It was fun.

Then my 4th grade Y hoops team had their first game and first win. I've coached most of these kids since kindergarten and our local middle school has no hoops team til the 8th grade. I'll have them dunking by then.

Okay, damaging admission time. I have two:

1. I became a user of Chamois Butt’r over the summer.
2. I went to the LBS to replenish my supply today and noticed, while walking to the car, that the tube in hand was “for her.” I didn’t take it back.

That’s AWD stupid. Having spent my life in the Northeast, I always check whether a moving vehicle’s wheels are turning before crossing or passing.

Last week my wife was prohibited from joining my youtube premium family, due to her being in a different country.

I noticed that my SS chain has stretched/worn by 1%.

I need a cheap but reliable SS chain. Google says KMC S1. Sound right?

Not only did you get rooked buying junk no serious cyclist would ever use, but your bike is ugly and your crank ain’t stiff.

Rode today in the frigid sub 60 temperatures. Wore the awesome Marigold jacket and everything was awesome. Naturally.
