We had December/January temps in Seattle a few weeks ago, for a couple of weeks. Now it's into November and temps are like earlier autumn. It's also been rainless (and cloudless, generally) for a while as well. That's the secret of Seattle winters: it'll be overcast for a lot of days, sure, but we'll usually have a number that are crystal clear (while also being very cold). At present, once 5:00pm rolls around, it's dark. Riding in the dark is enjoyable though, so I don't mind at all.

Our son, in Wolfeboro, NH, called yesterday afternoon to answer my wife's text playfully asking if the predicted snow dusting has occurred yet. We had spent last weekend up there with them, and the meteorologist were saying it was a possibility at that time. Told us that it was a decent amount falling early on, I need to call and see what they got there.

Pretty far inland, but we got a couple last night/today followed by some sleety crap. Should be almost cold tonight....

5+ inches here in VT over the past 12 hours. First school closure of the year--- I think it caught them by surprise, though why it should is a mystery....this is Vermont, after all.

I would be sad about the snow's impact on riding, I did several really nice but chilly rides last week--- however, I had joint replacement surgery on my right hip last Friday, so the riding is limited for me by more than the weather.....

Enjoy those late fall rides, folks--- they can be beautiful.

Yesterday, I rode my usual route. It was 63F when I finished at 2PM. I decided to change oil in my car and noticed the wind picking up and the temps going down all the while rain drops were accumulating. By 8PM it was 15F and snowing like crazy! Kentucky weather can be insane! At least I didn't get caught out like what happened to me a few years ago. It was another 'Andy Hampsten' experience!!!

Snow, who cares? Minus 23 degrees centigrade plus a twenty mile an hour wind. Now that is something to pay attention to and that is what I left a couple of days ago. Right now, where I am, it is mid-eighties with a gentle sea breeze. And I am drinking Heineken draft from a frozen mug. Yeehaw...
