Diverge tire clearance issue

Excellent point. I have them on the stock Axis rims that came with the bike, figuring I wouldn't cry too many tears if they got bashed up. Not sure what the ID is on those, and I don't own calipers to measure the tire width.

Panaracer Gravel King SK 38mm
I just put the gravel king sk 38mm in my Specialized Diverge E5. I feel comfortable with the Tyre clearance. Around 7 mm in respect to the seat post and 5 mm at the bottom. I can’t post photos.

Hey there,
Not sure if you guys have got gotten this figured out but I registered on this forum just to let you know what worked for me. I have the 2018 limited edition E5 Diverge finished in copper and I have run a variety of wheels and tyre sizes with great success. I will list the combo I have run with no clearance issues.
Industry Nine Enduro 305 650b wheelset with 650x47c and 650x48c tyres. The 47mm tyres were WTB Horizons and the 48c tyres were Compass Switchback Hill in both standard casing and extralight casing.
Roval CL50 700c wheelset with Compass Barlow Pass 700x38c tyres in extralight casing.
I have run all the combos both on and off the road with no clearance issues. Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Jared

Nubie, I just bought a Diverge e5 comp, also in the women's version, and I'm planning to change the tires for more gravel-oriented ones since I already have a good road bike. Just wondered how those panaracer 35 tires are working out for you.

Also interested in an update/info on gravel tires. Recently purchased a Roubaix for my road rides. Looking for gravel/trail tires for my 2016 Diverge DSW Elite (Alum). It is stock (AXIS 3.0 wheels) recently replaced my OEM Specialized (30mm) for a set of Gatorskins (28mm). Now that my wife and I are riding more "mixed surfaces/rails and trails" I'm looking for a larger tire with better grip (Gskins are slipping too much when we get on wet grass, etc.).

I'm running Gravel King 35 SK on my Diverge and find them ideal on pavement and dirt. No experience yet on any true gravel, but suspect there won't be any difference. For what it's worth, my experience with Gatorskins is that they suck when it's wet.

Panaracer Gravel Kings hard to install?
I was considering these tires for my Diverge e5 comp and then read that the tires are really hard to mount on the wheels. One guy posted that it took him so long to get them on the wheels that he decided not to use them, since he worried about having to change a tire on the road somewhere. Have you had this problem? Another tire I've heard is very good is the Schwalbe g-one, also in 35.

I have experience in these tires with two different wheels, the OEM Axis sport disc and Mavic Aksium, no problem to change tires. The grip is very good, you can roll fast in gravel and tarmac, no problem at all, in mud and rain is not bad. If you are not going into rainy days and mud you can go with the gravel king, it is lighter and lower rolling resistance (faster). I only had one puncture but it was in a side wall of the tyre with a thorn, completely my fault. My recommendation is to use the proper tyre pressure. I ride with inner tubes and I usually go with 55 in the front and 60 in rear. If I am bike packing 60 front 70 rear. The tire limit is 75 with inner tubes, 65 tubeless.

In my case it is easy to change the tires, more than 1000 km with them and only one puncture. Two different wheels and no problem no change them from one to the other.

That's what I've read in other posts. One rider posted that he broke two tire levers trying to get these on. Maybe it depends on the rim.

Thanks so much for posting the video! I've never used tubeless and I wondered how to do it!

Just wondering if the OP ever discovered the answer to her/his question. I also recently bought a Diverge (aluminum) and my cousin purchased a carbon version. Hers comes with 38mm stock knobby tires, mine with 30mm smooth ones. I'm looking into knobbier tires so we can do trails together, not sure what width I should get. I read that 38mm was the max my aluminum frame could use, 42mm for carbon. Is this true? I only read this in one review, all the others I've read state that 42mm is the max, making no differentiation between aluminum vs. carbon frames. Can anyone clarify?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Do you think a 700x28 on road rim(17 or 19c) could be a problem with bottom braket height?
I think a 265 mm bottom height with 38c tires will become a 255 or 256 mm height with 28c tires.
Thank you
