I still have my 1984 Ross Mt. Rainier. I still have the original bull moose bars in case I ever want to put it back to original. I just replaced the bottom bracket a few weeks ago since the spindle finally showed some pitting. I bought this bike new. The sad thing is that it is a few months older than my wife.

Here's the completed "twin" to the one in the OP. I bought this one for $20 several months back and was shocked to see one in my size let alone seeing one just like it with the same groovy paint!. My goal was to only put $50 in it total but the first ride in to work revealed the rear tire was shot so I just replaced it....so it cost a little more than $50 but still worth it.
I converted it into a 1x7

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
The Cascade did not see too many miles last year... did not have the time to consider much touring but this spring it has seen some nice upgrades to the wheels and drive and hope to get out for some multi day trips.
Arvon hubs laced to CR18 rims... triple cartridge bearing in the rear, standard front hub... and new Marathon Racers.
After so many years and so many miles this bike is like a favourite pair of shoes... always perfect and the standard by which other bikes gets judged.

I still have my '94 Kona Kilauea. I used to race it back in '94 thru '96, then it was demoted to a commuter bike. I commuted on it regularly for 15 years until I switched jobs a few years ago. I need to give that bike some love. I didn't realize that bike was becoming a classic already. I still have all of the original components for it.....time for a full restoration!

Still loving my 1996 GT Outpost, which I now use for commuting and touring. There's nothing like owning and riding a bike that you know right down to the smallest component. I can get on this thing and ride a hundred miles without even thinking about a mechanical check, because I know I can jury rig any part that breaks out on the road. I hope she never, ever dies!

1991 Specialized Team Stumpjumper with full suntour grease guard gruppo. Pretty much original other than the saddle, seatpost (had to have a black seatpost on this bike), pedals (clipless), and the handlebars (replaced the stock bar with a trekking bar):

So you think it's possible that the seatpost WILL NOT come out? I just thought I hadn't tried hard enough yet. Read a little on Sheldon Brown but no major research on how to do it. I was thinking heat, but it's aluminum I think. Still havn't tried any acids yet either. Any other suggestions?

I have a 90s nishiki which I maintain every weekend, but it keeps emitting this "clanky" noise at regular intervals, I know it's either coming from the mid-section of the bike (crank, FR, BB, or possibly chain) but I cannot figure out what is it that's causing the noise. According to sheldon it might be a link in the chain that's stiff, but I've checked it and I couldn't find it.
Other than that, I ****ing love it. (can I curse in this forum?)

Had a new cartridge BB put in my 80's Schwinn High Plains when I could not find replacement outer races.
it only cost about $65 installed, from a small local shop.

I still have my 90's era heavy tank of a MTB, it's a Giant Rincon that I bought on year end closeout, but for some reason mine came with Shimano XT derailleurs and shifters which has just been a plain nightmare, which made me wonder what the lower end components that was suppose to come with it were like. Everything else on the bike appears to be original factory spec'd stuff. It's scratched up a lot but it was bought to be a beater and beat it I did.
