My Cinelli

It's amazing how different some bikes feel to the touch. I have a couple of nice bikes but this bike is different. It's like being in the room with something special, like an old billiards master or may be a Ninja.

When Timmy called I though he was kidding. "Cinelli" He spelled it out. I asked him if it was old. "Ya and dirty" was his reply. I asked the usual questions. He described the parts "the Italian stuff you like, you know that Record stuff". The saddle is crappy, Unica-something..Should I grab it?

He asked me how much it was worth. I guess I was weak but I said " I will pay anything you ask for an old Cinelli". You should bring it to me I said. I was thinking about the last bike he found for me. A Benotto that was tragic garbage that he wanted $200.00 for.

I mentioned I had a case of hybrid handlebars I bought at an inventory sale. He was stoked and I forgot about it because I don't always believe and I had a lot of work to do.

He shows up a couple of days later with this. Holy cow.

Woh!

Cleaning her up is going to be a project, but oh what a beautiful project it will be! Wow, so original and so beautiful. Wonder what barn she's been hiding in all these years? Shame it hasn't been seen or ridden in awhile. Something so beautiful needs to be!

So, what are your plans for her?

WOW! Lucky you.

"It's like being in the room with something special, like an old billiards master or may be a Ninja." One of the best lines I have read in a long while.

Can I have Timmy's number please?

Wow! I am guessing early to mid 70's too. By '77 the front mech was braise on, and so were the cable guides. What's the date on the rear derailleur? That should clean up real nice, especially all the Campy aluminum!

Awesome!

I think '72. A almost original example, wheels could well be original. You know what it needs. If the seat is set up for you... it looks a little small... hint hint.

Only more I could want would be one in Black.

Yeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The ultimate score. Welcome to the club! You are going to have the best Winter ever cleaning that bicycle up. Take your time and have fun with it. I remember when I got mine so I know exactly how you feel. It's okay to wake up in the middle of the night to go stare at it! Congratulations.

Looks like Christmas came early for you! Very nice! I love Cinellis, they are something special, unlike any other Italian bike.
Definitely a find of the year candidate, all for the cost of a box of hybrid handlebars. Good grief!

Enjoy enjoy!
