Vintage-ish Bags

Please post pics of your vintage bike with bags on it. They could be handlebar bags, seat bags, panniers, rack top bags, whatever. It would also be helpful it you posted if you like it and where you got it.

Here's some places I know of that sell Vintage looking bags. Am I missing any?

Acorn -
https://www.acornbags.com/index.html

Velo Orange -
https://www.velo-orange.com/

Rivendell -
https://www.rivbike.com/

Peter White -
https://www.peterwhitecycles.com/

SJS Cycles (Carradice) -
https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/

I'm sure there are more.

Basil makes a nice bag in the Karavan 2, I have one on order for my City Bike.

wahoonc - excellent looking raleigh you got there!

I have a brooks milbrook on mine, pricey & not as versatile as a lot of bags, but definitely looks good, he he
It holds a mini pump & a flat kit & other stuff just fine, & the front basket holds the rest....

carridice barley bag on my mclean:

I used it a few times during the summer but took it off once it got cool enough to carry my messenger bag. I like to keep the bike light.

swiss army tool roll on my fuji track (since sold the bike but kept the roll):

Here's my '79 Schwinn Traveler (made by Bridgestone) with a Bridgestone handle bar bag I picked up at a yardsale some 15 or more years ago, and the Schwinn promotional panniers Bob Hufford directed me to on ebay a couple of years ago. I call this picture the "Traveling Traveler" despite being mounted in a trainer.

Minnehaha makes canvas bags at reasonable prices. Have not tried them, but was thinking about getting one of their saddlebags. They're available at Velo Orange or Calhoun Cycle.

A leatherette Raleigh saddle bag bought on eBay awhile back:

Big honkin' Karrimor bag, which I use all the time coupled with an Karrimor "uplift." It fits my laptop and any Brooks saddle with loops:

Homemade saddle bag from an LL Bean shoulder bag. I've since added a dowel across its length for some stiffening:

This small leather pouch came with the bike.it is pretty useless unless you want to carry pepper spray or a small weapon.I left it on because i thought it looked good.

Cheap Equestrian Panniers + Acorn Roll Bag

Willie and Max Motorcycle Saddlebags

take a stroll through the womens bags isle at your local thrift store and you might find some good stuff. I have seen several cylindrical leather bags that would make great seat bags.

One of the bikes I flipped this year came with ugly bar tape and a nylon women's purse bolted on to the handlebars. It appeared to have been there awhile. Would that qualify it as "vintage-ish?"

Oldroads.com has one that looks like NOS Raleigh; check to make sure they have stock before ordering.

These aren't vintage or even vintage looking, but they're very functional.

They are Lone Peak P100 panniers on a polished stainless Tubus Luna rack. The P100s have a main zippered compartment and a smaller outside pocket compartment. I bought them for 3 - 4 day credit card touring.

Velo Orange Ostrich saddle bag w/ Viva bag support on my Paramount. The bag support looks a bit "busy" to my eye but it works great. The bag never moves and is out of the way, even when loaded. This is the only saddle bag that I saw that was not buckle & strap closure type (Which I don't care for) and it also comes w/ an internal stiffener to help the bag keep its shape when empty.

Sorry for the low quality photos.

fender1,
that is one of the bags i'm considering and now that i've seen it on your bike I think I like it even more. Do you think a small laptop would fit in it? Just wondering.

holiday76,

Thanks. I don't think a lap top would fit. The bag main compartment is (appox.) 11 inches wide at the opening, 5 inches deep from top to bottom and 9 inches long from front to back.

I have a small laptop that measures about 11 X 9.5, so if you found the right one, you might get it to work.
