Bike Style
Forgive the ignorance of a beginner, but curiosity is getting the best of me:
With such an emphasis on gorgeous bikes, how many of you dress to match your bikes?
I'm the proud new owner of a 2012 Cannondale Supersix 6, and (to me) it is a looker. But the black/white color scheme seems to restrict fashion possibilities. So what, if any, unspoken rules are there?

The Supersix is a CF high performance racing bicycle. Therefore, Lycra, bibs, and Jerseys, or some other type of racing attire would look quite appropriate to match the bike. Racing attire for a racing bike. Right? Nah...I don't think so!
So, if you're just wearing jeans, a T-shirt, and tennis shoes...I mean what's supposed to happen?
I mean...Do you get ticketed by the bicycle fashion police or something?
BTW- You can wear practically any color with black and white.
Wear whatever you want to wear! It's nobody's business, unless you're riding with a group, club, or team. That's it!

I go the other way around. My team kit is black and orange so I usually wrap my bars with orange tape. (It also makes it easier for my kids to pick me out of the pack during a race.)

I wore a black/white kit today... That would have matched your bike perfectly.
My bike is white w/ red accents. 90% of cycling apparel is white/black/red of some sort. Not matching is almost impossible. I do wear Voler bibs so far and Castelli jerseys, so my brands don't always match.
Also, my socks/sunglasses/bottles are all blue/black/white, so they completely contradict my bike and my apparel no matter what. No fashion tickets though.
Cycling apparel brands sell matching kits. Look up Voler, Castelli, Capo, Pearl iZUMi, or most any other brand and you'll find that they all feature matched kits between bibs and jerseys. Just as a general fashion rule: only ride in black bibs.

To the OP, you're bike is black and white, you can wear pretty much whatever you want.
I do admit, I feel silly wearing baggy shorts, a tshirt, and flipflops while riding on a carbon bike, but I've done it before - not very far though.

Today I wore a jersey from one team, a vest from another, armwarmers from a third, bibs from a fourth, and knee-warmers from yet another.
Basically, I don't give a flying f--k anymore.

Throw the stick!!!!
My goal when picking out clothes to ride in is for everything to be in the clean pile. That is about it. I couldn't care less about matching.

the good thing about a stay at home spouse is that I only need to have 2 shorts and 2 shirts. black shorts, one solid blue jersey and one solid white. bike is blue/white, so like you I grab whatever's clean.

I don't pay a lot of attention to matching my socks with arm-warmers.
I look a lot better than my bike no matter what I wear.
My bike is pretty. I'm exquisite. Can't help it.

Most of my clothes i bought to match a former bike, so i'm not going to stop wearing them b/c they don't match my current bike. I just make sure bib matches my jersey, and don't worry about the rest.

I don't like Italian looking stuff, especially mock Italian. Clothes or bikes.
(Note: I don't care if it is actually is or isn't Italian, it's just the Vuelta wheel look and the green/red/white combo's I don't care for).
