Who went 29er and now back to 26er?....

Was curious who drank the koolaid or succumbed to the hype, threw down for a 29er and found the slower spool up time and the slower handling not worth the tradeoff for better roll over and now you are back on a 26er? Trying to determine if the final chapter hasn't been written yet.
Thanks.

I just ordered my soon-to-be 26er, 2010 Fuji Reveal 1.0. But not because I don't like the 29er, I freakin' love it. My 29er is a hardtail and we don't have too many great places where a hardtail is best suited and I can't afford the 29er full squishy we carry otherwise I'd go with that instead of a 26er.

I went 29'er back when I first built the '05 Komodo. It was technically a 26 x 2.7 Nevegal I found it a bit over the top for general trail riding.

No . . . but I have this goofy idea (I get a lot of those):

Particularly since I'm running an inverted fork this year, I have a chance to try out my 650B front/26 rear DHer idea. My thought is that it would give advantages similar to when MX bikes went to 21" front wheels. But I've been waiting for rims/tires to catch up with my vision.

I tried. Not so much "went" 29er, more of a just trying it out sort of thing, to compliment my other rides, and see if I'd like them.

https://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=491856

It didn't last long. Some people like 'em, some don't. Just all depends on how and what you like to ride, how you like your bikes to handle. IMO, the folks who bag on a them (or other rides) without having tried it for themselves are being wankers. Give it a try. I didn't like it, but am glad I gave it a shot, rather than continuing to wonder about them.

I wouldn't say "succumbed to the hype" so much as, it was simply the bike I wanted. It is fun, but I just find that my 26" feels more maneuverable and "feel" is 9/10ths of the law after all.
