A friend of mine owns the local Trek dealership a block or so from my shop and when he wants a break he comes by to visit usually riding a bike, he shows up on this the other day, he owns it, I haven't tried it yet.

It is a single speed with a new set of brakes on it. He said it is a little slow from a stop.

It is an Asylum Hank : Hank | Klunkin' on a Budget (hankbike.com)

As you can see in the link it came very basic. But it was cool it came with disc braze-ons & 27.5. I rode it stock for a while & liked it so I decided to mod. Velocity Blunts with XT hubs and Avid discs. Vintage Cook Bros cranks and vintage Tomaselli levers. Brooks ouch couch of course. WTB Vigilante front & Trail boss rear. It's a blast to ride if you're into this kind of thing. Made one year only, 2015 I think. When they come up for sale they go quick.

Thanks! Well I happen to like it and it reminds me just a bit of "the good old days" when I didn't know bikes had speeds other than how fast you could pedal.

What type of rims are those? Surprised they're still black on the brake tracks, usually that wears off pretty quickly.

They're H Plus Son TB14. Can't remember if this was a retrogression build, Velomine, or a custom Prowheelbuilder.

Edit: Was a custom build from Prowheelbuilder.com

Looks great! What brakes are you going to use with the road levers?

I've got a set of Tektro Oryx on it now but haven't gotten around to pics of the finished build.

I'll be using Avid Single Digits when I run risers.

Thank you,it's a wet paint. I used Montana Black Ink Blue as the base with the Montana Black Holographic metal flake for the top coat.

Finally got to ride this build!

This is super fun. Nice responsive frame and super smooth 650b 38mm tires. Gearing is 48x17 which comes out to around 72" - felt pretty good although there wasn't really much wind today.

I'm looking forward to getting some real brake levers so I don't have to climb in the drops all the time though
