Assuming you've got no use for these damned eggwhite-omelet-beating pieces of crap that I despise, what do all you CV types adorn yourself with these days? I find myself buying simple loafers that are pedal-friendly to accompany my cleated shoes, but I also find myself weeping over how many various simple bicycle shoes were available back in the 70s, early 80s. How do you shod yourselves these days?
weeping
And I notice bata bikers have their own facebook page, basically imploring somebody to start reissuing them. Yes!

Cyclotouring is as popular now as in the 70's, reissue the Bata Biker!
Hello All! I've built and restored 60s - 80s racing and touring bikes for 17 years. I bought my first touring bike in 1982, an '81 Trek 513. Now is the time to reissue the Bata Biker! Bicycle touring, cyclotouring, or bikepacking as the kids say is as popular now as it was during the 70s and early 80s. Rivendell, Velo Orange, and Campfire Cycling would be on board as well as the Classics Rendezvous forum people. I wanted the Bata Biker, just as it is, to be reissued 15 years ago, and Vans put out an version, but it was geared for the fixie crowd. An exact rerelease of the Bata Biker at a reasonable price would sell very well--exactly now.

With the thousands of cycling companies trying to find a niche & an abundance of S.E. Asian contract shoe manufacturers, I'm surprised no one has reissued Bata Bikers.

I have pondered pursuing exactly this, but haven't gotten serious about it. I ended up finding a pair in my size on ebay after searching for years, but it would be nice to be able to hoard a few "new" pairs.

I like my Five Tens (2nd pair) with pinned flat pedals, but I miss the ability to pull up when accelerating. The reason I went with the Five Tens, of course, is that my Puma touring shoes wore out, and I couldn't find new ones. The reason I changed pedals is that the Five Ten's soles are pretty thick. If I thought they'd fit into my toe clips, I'd be happy with my quill pedals. I imagine the soles of Chrome shoes are similar. The thing with the old touring shoes - Bata, Avocet, Puma, etc. - was that the soles were stiff but thin. I really miss them.

I was a huge fan of Bata Bikers. I would have signed the petition years ago, however, if you look, there are lots of good choices out there. Five Tens seem to be sold out for now. Here is a shoe that reminds me a bit of the look of the Bata Bikers. I think that they look better.
Ride Concepts Vice Flat Pedal Shoe
$100 in 2021 dollars are probably less expensive than Beta Bikers in 1970's dollars.

I sawed through my only pair of Bikers early on and replaced them with the newer and better Sprintours, which I still have. Low miles.

Would like to find a set of shoes myself when riding with toe clips and straps that look like bike shoes but no cleats and comfortable for limited walking around. I wear road bike shoes with clipless pedals on my newer road bike but like to be more casual with my steel bikes.
