Thank god we aren't the full lycra kit wearing fools.

God I hope Pastis sees this thread. So much great material!
Comparing the strip to Nazi propaganda, among many other posts, sounds just like something Jef the Cyclist would say!

So don’t worry about it.
(Also…that sounds a lot like something Jef the Cyclist would post in an internet bike forum)

"The amount of sensitivity about a comic (regardless whether it's funny or not) here is pretty pathetic."
Hope that helps.

My jersey is a Lycra / Wool blend = so confused!
So confused.
Should I be insulted as a kit wearing elite snob cyclist?
Or a traditionalist vintage wool wearing geek?
Or both?
Or neither?, my annual mileage is too low to even consider the title ‘cyclist’.
i’m not worthy
Or just too old to care!
in today’s world, not all comics are meant to be funny - as in Funny HaHa! As in Doonesbury (sp?). Smiling or frowning without ridicule is permitted.

There's no fun in cycling, only suffering. Much suffering in this thread. Very good.

I don't know how I missed that. The dark side clouds everything. Impossible to see the humor is.

Years ago, when I was young and dumb, an old timer (once a member of the US team and a medalist in the Pan Am games) told me that I'm a good cyclist because I know how to suffer. Hey, I was raised Catholic. Which means, almost every minute of my life was suffering.

Your comment also reminded me of a time that I was visiting with @Lascauxcaveman after a ride that he hosted, and one of his guests (I think it was his cousin) who hadn't joined us for the ride was telling us about the time she tried to be a cyclist. She told a pretty good story about an organized ride she did and this awful climb in the middle of the ride and how the whole time she was dragging herself up that climb she thought she was going to die. I told her that people who love cycling have exactly the same experience except that when we get finished we tell ourselves it was fun.

In this thread:
1. We must make fun of "lycra clad cyclists" because they are striking a pose... which is slightly different than our (even more affected) preferred pose of vintage bikes and wool jerseys and therefore must be ridiculed.
2. The nerve of some cyclists enjoying going fast and training for racing. Who do they think they are? Don't they realize how this makes me feel? Also, this is different from the way I enjoy riding bikes and therefore must also be ridiculed.
3. Those lycra-clad cyclists are so arrogant and judgemental. Let's be arrogant and judgemental about imagined, stereotypical lycra-clad cyclists.
4. If you don't think this entirely humor-free, obvious, fish-in-a-barrel, pinned-above-the-urinal-in-a-boomer-bar level comic is funny, you must be a "stick in the mud" who hates fun.

If people think a cartoon rat is promoting homicide, wait till they read The Far Side - promoting talking cows, alien abductions, cat death, putting hydrochloric acid on fellow scientists, bestiality, etc.

Arguably one of the greatest panels ever created. Would probably cause half the people here to stroke out.

I wonder if this thread is behind all those call girl spam posts? Certainly there is a connection between lycra and call girls that some computer algorithm is picking up on..
