Campy Daytona Crank Arm removal

Working on a friends Klein 10 speed bike that has Campy Daytona crank arms. I want to pull the arms to clean. Is there a special puller for these crank arms?

Thanks!

I don’t know if Daytona ever came with power torque or ultra torque. If power torque, a small two arm bearing puller could be pressed into service to remove the NDS arm. Or the ungodly expensive Campag tool. I believe ultra torque cranks are self-extracting with the right Allen key. If square taper, then a standard crank puller will do it. Just make sure to lube the puller threads and screw the puller in all the way - this will prevent you stripping the Crank threads

The Daytona crank is a square taper, it comes off the same as other square taper cranks. Do pay careful attention to what Litespud said about getting it threaded all the way in.

And be certain to remove any washers before installing the puller.

Very important. Failure to do so can result in stripped threads or broken cranks. In fact, unless you are planning to overhaul the bottom bracket, removing the crank to clean it might not be a great idea. You can usually remove chainrings to improve access for cleaning

Thanks for the input...was able to remove the crank arms fairly easy with the correct tool...now the bottom bracket is ok but curious how to remove...just looks like a bearing on both sides no way to insert any kind of tool to remove...?

Chances are there’s a narrow castellated gap around the spindle on each side. The tool slides over the spindle and engages the castellations. Campagnolo make one (obv) as do Park. I think it’s called a BB-5 - also unscrews cassettes
