Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I couldn't figure it out. It would need to start with "Golly" for me to get it.

I loved both of the Tempos I've owned.

Is that fork maybe from a Circuit or Peloton? I didn't think any of the Tempos had visible chrome. The 1985 was chrome under paint but that's it as far as I remember.

I don't remember chrome socks either. I'll have to take a peek at the catalogs.

Thoughts on bar tape color assuming aero levers with black hoods? I'm also either going to use the saddle on the bottom picture or something colored black.

I kind of want to do yellow but it might be a little too loud for this build. I'd like it to look good with both the green and black bag.

The '88 fork was red all the way down. I'm guessing a previous owner stripped the paint up to that point and added the white line.

Black. Bar tape should always be black. Though I have one bike with flipper blue. I don't know how that happened

Must be, looks like the Circuit was the only 80s Schwinn offered with chrome but it was the entire fork.

Ehh… it's hard to go wrong, but in some cases not-black can look good (red on my P2 looks awesome). This bike is certainly screaming for leather/ honey to match the saddle, but with the levers changing to black... probably black. But then I worry it's too busy without a black saddle.

Black would be easiest, although I'd be tempted to match the saddle.

I'd also be tempted to go carbon silver, even though it doesn't last very long...

Black is certainly the safest choice. A bit boring, though.

If I went with gum hoods then I would probably keep the ACE bandage brown since it does look cohesive. A black saddle may be in the future, but this one is comfortable enough to not warrant changing except for weight reduction reasons.

What about something a bit out there like purple or green?

An experiment that didn't go very well. I have the angle and position pretty dialed on the other seatpost and saddle so I didn't want to take that setup apart just to try something different.
