Bianchi road bike

Hi everyone. I'm trying to identity how much my Bianchi road bike is worth, and also what model and year it could be? Basically, what is it?

I've saved some pictures in my albums for reference.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums. Your bicycle appears to be an early 1970s model, circa 1971-1973. Unfortunately I can't read the complete serial number, which is partially hidden by the cables. Bianchi model often differed between countries but in the USA this would be one of the Rekord variants, a Rekord 71 if I'm correct about the age.. It has been repainted and has several upgrades, most significantly the derailleurs. Basically, this was Bianchi's entry level racing bicycle. I don't have any appreciation for market conditions in the UK, so I'll defer to other members on the value.

Hi, thanks for the detailed information. I will get a better picture of the serial number tomorrow and post it in the album!

Were Bianchi's entry level bicycles good at the time? Sorry I don't know much about Bianchi

It does look like it has a campagnolo nuovo record gear set? Would be good to see what value of the overall bike is too

pic assist -

yes, it has to be a 1971

beginning 1972 the Rekord model came through with the NERVAR Sport cottered five arm chainset

frame constructed of the Agrati lug pattern "AM"

its bulge-formed head is item nr. 000.8048

the seat lug comes from Agrati lug pattern "AMERICA" and is item nr. 086.8569

the fork crown is Agrati nr. 001.8518

bottom bracket shell is Agrati nr. 000.8507

fork ends are Agrati item nr. 000.810

dropouts are Agrati item nr. 000.8002

note the plate style chainstay bridge

---

chainset looks to be Agrati pattern

headset appears OFMEGA which is surprising. for 1971 would expect to see the Bianchi design headset where adjustable race and knurled locknut have pin holes. you will probably be able to read the OFMEGA name on the upper surface of the locknut.

---

as T-Mar mentioned transfer set is of a later style than would have been on the frame when it departed factory

original pedals would have been Sheffield model nr. 655

I’d stay away from it unless it is under $75.

hi everyone juvela and T-Mar - I've uploaded a few more pictures in the album so hopefully you can read the full serial number and see some of the parts in a bit more detail.

thanks for taking the time to look at it

Bianchigirll could you expand a bit more on your evaluation of $75.. I'm trying to get an estimate for the UK market and any information on how you got there would be really helpful.

Are the campagnolo nuovo record parts or frame not worth not much at all then?

I thought at least the Brooks leather saddle would go for £50 here in the UK

Cheers

Thanks

the cycle's gear ensemble alone is easily worth more than 75$

Wonky times for bike pricing, even claw derailleur bikes are selling very quickly at the $200 range. In my region that I think it would sell very quickly for over $300 USD, to a user. People love the Bianchi celeste color it carries a higher demand than most brands.

I would put the current value at $250 or so in most markets. Not high end but it is in very good condition and it is blue Bianchi with nice cosmetics so it would likely sell fairly quickly around this price.

Thanks for everyone’s input.

i was thinking for a while if I should sell it as it is or take the frame and convert with some sti shifters and Ultegra group set

Can’t really summon the confidence to do that as it looks lovely but not massively practical for big city riding through traffic

If it were mine, and I was crazy enough to sell, versus flex on all the haters around here, I would post it at $400, and see if I get a nibble. That thing is awesome.
