Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Giant Rapid 1 ???

I'm in the market for a Giant Rapid 1 but are having a hard time finding one.

One person told me they are being discontinued.

Has anyone hear of Giant Rapid being discontinued or they just out of stock ?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Scott

It would seem that they're not that interested in selling you a bike, then, wouldn't it? Better to take your dollars elsewhere... that bike definitely wasn't discontinued, the '13 model just came out a few months ago.

How is the tricross bike in anyway similar to a rapid 1. At least recommend something that's in the same group or class.

The Rapid is a great flatbar road bike, I have the composite version of it. if you are looking at a specialized version, it would be the sirrus. The rapids are or at least use to be based off of the defy frame set. The only sirrus from my knowledge based off of their roubaix is the limited.

The 2013s are slowly coming in, and LBS are getting them in, just have to be patient for it to come in.
I work at a shop that sells Giant, and I haven't seen the Rapid 1 yet, but have seen all the other Rapids including the Comp, but did see the women's version called the Dash 1, usually not much difference besides colour and slight geometry change. Go for the Comp.

Just a FYI, that video is the 2012, the 13 is white with blue accents. The Rapid 3 in black looks pretty sweet too!
