TdF 2019 - Stage 14 - SPOILER ALERT

Short stage with a mountain top finish.

The final climb of 19kms. from Luz to the iconic statue of a climbing cyclist is one I did about fifteen years ago. The last bit is steep.

Egan Bernal?

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

1 PINOT, Thibaut (GFC) 3:10:20
2 ALAPHILIPPE, Julian (DQT) + 6
3 KRUIJSWIJK, Steven (TJV)
4 BUCHMANN, Emanuel (BOH) + 8
5 BERNAL GOMEZ, Egan Arley (INS)
6 LANDA MEANA, Mikel (MOV) + 14
7 URAN, Rigoberto (EF1) + 30
8 THOMAS, Geraint (INS) + 36
9 BARGUIL, Warren (PCB) + 38
10 FUGLSANG, Jakob (AST) + 53

Ineos showed weakness today. Nothing like the Sky we know from the last four Tours. Even if Alaphilippe doesn't win I'd have to fancy Jumbo V over them with Kruiswijk.

GC

1 ALAPHILIPPE, Julian (DQT) 56:11:29
2 THOMAS, Geraint (INS) + 2:02
3 KRUIJSWIJK, Steven (TJV) + 2:14
4 BERNAL GOMEZ, Egan Arley (INS) + 3:00
5 BUCHMANN, Emanuel (BOH) + 3:12
6 PINOT, Thibaut (GFC)+ 3:12

I'm starting to believe Juju can do it.

Wow Alaphilippe under pressure and duress but more then holding his own. Too early to make much of anything, but have we found G's limit? Was this tactical?

But geeze almost half a minute lost to Juju and Pinot!?

I'm happy to see Uran doing well. Ideally I'd see him hold the wheel of Alaphilippe but to put time into G' was sweet.

I watched the NBCSN coverage from Matt and Robbie, caught a moment between Alaphilippe and Sagan at the end where Juju brags of his "special gift" he received that morning

After a bit of a snooze of the front half of that stage...Tourmalet made it exciting.

Did he elaborate on what specifically the special gift was?
