2 Riders Thrown out of TdF
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...an-alaphilippe
I saw where Martin appeared to ride Rowe into the road edging twice but missed Rowe's retaliation. Didn't think it would lead to disqualification, maybe a fine.
Certainly helps Pinot and Alaphilippe's chances.
Said at the start of stage 17 I hoped we wouldn't lose any riders thinking of Fuglsang's accident in 16 but didn't think it would be because of temper tantrums in the peloton.
Geraint Thomas’s hopes of defending his Tour de France title were dealt a blow when his Ineos road captain, Luke Rowe, was thrown out of the race, together with his Jumbo Visma counterpart Tony Martin, after the pair had an altercation towards the end of stage 17.
Certainly helps Pinot and Alaphilippe's chances.

I saw that, wasn't sure what was going on. Phil said it was Martin trying to get out of the way after pulling. Didn't think much of it after that.

Wow.
Pretty sure FDJ and AG2R could have a steel cage match and not get the same treatment.

Interesting to see the odds shifting.
Thibaut Pinot 13/8
Egan Bernal 4/1
Geraint Thomas 7/2
Julian Alaphilippe 6/1
Steven Kruijswijk 15/2
Yesterday, Thomas was almost paying 2 to 1.

No hearing, just immediate exclusion, appeal not before the start.
Today Kruijswijk, De Plus and Bennet got a blood check 40 minutes before the start, never happened before. Alaphillipe, Thomas and Bernal were checked before breakfast. Pinot didn't get checked.
That's why I never root for a French cyclist in the Tour, the French never got the concept of fair sport and when a Frenchman wins there'll always be doubt.

Odds after stage 18, wide, wide open tour still.... Don't think a yellow jersey this late in the tour has been such an underdog. Kruijswijk's stock dropped.
Egan Bernal 11/8
Thibaut Pinot 11/4
Geraint Thomas 15/4
Julian Alaphilippe 15/4
Steven Kruijswijk 12/1
