Wrist mounted mirror

Many times while riding and constantly adjusting my handlebar -mounted mirror, I've always thought that a wrist-mounted mirror would be a good idea.

Then I found this.

https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/Cycling-Mirror-Riding-Wrist-Band-Rotatable-Rear-View-Mirror-for-MTB-Road-Bike-Motorbike-Riders/PRD7DWQ7UB6K4F6

Then on second thought, wouldn't your arm always be blocking your line of sight? It needs to have an arm so the mirror sticks out a bit.

That's a knock off of the RVI RearViz

https://www.rviactive.com/

There was a pretty energetic thread about this a while back.

Wow, that's pricey. I wonder if the knock-off is any good at all.

Question

When your arm moves you lose focus. It also presents a very direct hazard if you wreck. If you mount one on the visor/helmet you're not as likely to fall on it and have the shards lacerate/impale you. I use my neck. Owls can't be wrong.

The day I turned 40, an evil brain surgeon broke into my apartment, I think he came in through the window, and took some of my gray matter. Now I can't remember what I had for breakfast. Sounds like he got you, to.

Everyone tells me it gets worse.

I knew a Trappist monk who lived to 103. At 99 years old he could remember the date that every one of his brother monks entered the monastery, who was president at that time and all of their birthdays, but he could not remember the question asked of him 10 seconds ago.

Q: Brother, would you like lunch?
(Pause while the brother thinks for a moment.)
A: Oh, we get a lot of Methodists at the monastery.

Back in the 1970s I used a mirror on an elastic strap on the back of my hand for city commutes. It was, umm... handy. I didn't need it for less busy commutes. Back then I had full range of motion in my neck.

My neck was broken in a wreck in almost 20 years ago and I still have limited flexibility. Mirrors on the bikes or helmets. Mostly Take-A-Look on both helmets. Took awhile to get used to them but now I'm so accustomed to them that I find myself looking for a non-existent mirror when I'm out walking.

The helmet mirror is very handy on group rides on the rare occasions I get pressed into leading. I usually prefer to sweep. With the mirror I can be sure I'm not surging and gapping the folks behind me so we get a chance to work a paceline safely, or not losing new folks who might not be able to keep up in the summer heat..

Mirrycles are good on the hybrid handlebars. A couple of friends have some kind of Italian made bar end mirrors on their drop bar road bikes -- very low profile so the other kids don't tease them. Sprintech mirrors are similar and get good reviews.

Owls don't live as long as I have, have greater range of motion, and eat rats.

I have probably bought a new bike's worth of mirrors in my time.
The back of hand glove mirrors are pretty useful and give you a good quick glance though are seldom in focus.
Adequate if what you're looking for is a large hurtling metallic object where there should be an empty blind spot.
They also tend to have a lot of curve which is again good only for a quick glance behind you
Available through Amazon for about $8
I have fancy bar ends on my recumbent trike and perform at about the same level
I considered the glove mirrors disposable as the lenses scratch pretty easily

Mirrors say "No", they never say "Go".
