Don't have any closeups of my bike loaded for a tour but here's one of it carrying a full-size Park repair stand I found on craigslist last summer. Bike is a 1981 Schwinn Voyageur 11.8 with a few modern bits.

It was a wet wknd on the C&O but enjoyable. 76 Raleigh Grand Prix with Minnehaha bags in the rear and vintage Swiss military bread bags up front.

Oh yes, I love Jandd stuff. With the addition of my new handlebar bag, I have a full set of bags.
Here is a mock-up pic of my fixie commuter/tourer with a front pannier on the rear.
I do have a lowrider front rack, just no reason to leave it on.
And I'm not sure I'm going to keep the high rise stem.

Besides the Jandd that Maha mentioned, OMM has a few. One thing I like about the Surly version is that it`s the only one of that general class that lets you put one pannier clip behind the fork so the load is more centered on the steering axis.

ha ha, no I am not that cool! It is the surley "nice rack" with a cargo net over it and I added the tubes to keep my bags out of my spokes. I ride past GM every day and had to take this photo. I love this rack! It is wide and mounts mid fork so no binding over bumps and is strong as anything.

I have no idea how any of you ride for a whole day with all that stuff @_@ I'd fall over and die. Seriously, I don't think I can even ride an hour in some of those. Really nice bikes though ^_^
For my 600 mile trip, I think I'm planning to get by with just a small to medium sized rear panniers. I'm pretty sure I can do it, since I'm not planning on camping and I've fit everything I needed for a week on vacation into a backpack before (including my laptop, which I won't bring on tours xD)

Going on my first tour manana - the Katy trail, basically unsupported. This feels heavy!! Any suggestions? I've pretty evenly distributed the weight, but she's handling like an 83 caddy.

Bolt in a 500ci engine? Go back through your stuff and take some out? Or just live with it- being rail trail, at least there shouldn`t be a lot of climing. If it`s too heavy this time, next time you`ll have a better idea what you can do without. Good luck on your trip- I hope you enjoy yourself and be sure to follow 10 wheels` picture instructions!
