Of course it is still a hybrid, but when I took it out of the shop to start with I had put drops and barcons (barend shifters) on it since it was half the price of a tourer. I had purchased it for commuting, which around here means/meant 10+ miles one way, to use for escaping to the country when I went to college in Cleveland, Ohio and for some lite trail/cross action.
I had since, put some wide curvy brahma bars and trigger shifters on it that were replaced with the RSX brifters I'd bought years ago when I worked at another shop and some craigslist drops. I used to go on big group rides of up to 100 miles and would always spin out and get dropped with the old compact crankset, so I'd always longed for bigger rings since they were 22-32-42, however the longer cranks (175) I could do without.
Either way, I wanted to have a faster commuter that I could take on the morning rides as a back up, go for a tour if I chose. As for the wheels, lets just say that they needed to rebuild them for years now and finding a set on craigslist made me happy since I could rebuild at my leisure (been sitting on new rims and hubs for well over a year now).

OK, it's about damn time, I know. Now, no laughing at the shotty iPhone pics or the horrible angles, or the broom in the background . I started riding to work this week so here are the pics in my classroom. I need to set my bike up in a prettier spot and take it from the ground up so you can see how awesome my room is!
What the heck, here's an old shot of my room...brand new schools are quite nice! And this doesn't do it justice

This thread has mine and others set-ups as well. I have plenty of room between the bar ends and areo bar.

Thanks, the only thing I'd change is how heavy it seems to me when lifting it. And I don't know about the rest of you, but once the panniers are on and with just a lunch, purse, cup of coffee, bottled water, I can't lift the back of the bike...that sucks on days I might want to bring my laptop or books, means one trip up with bags, one trip with bikes. Still not the end of the world though.

Darth Firebolt: Nice sirrus! Base model it looks like? I have the gloss blue and LOVE it. I think the hubs or bottom bracket have some friction though, or maybe I need to pump up the PSI, I run at 115 which is min, ill try out 120 tomorrow.
Nice hardrock. You could try a longer stem to fit you better for on road. I have a 135mm on my mtb and it stretches me out nice.

I think I'm going to switch the panniers around. I don't like the black one, but it's easy, cheap and practical for tossing lunch and purse in, along with pants for the days I wear a skirt (which reminds me, need to bring pants since I'm wearing skirt tomorrow.) I can likely ride with the skirt, but think I'll do that on a weekend errand to test it out. NOthing like falling off the bike in front of students when my skirt (potentially) gets snagged.

also, the stem is fine, but i have run out of seat post on the hardrock. the guys at the LBS even traded me for a seatpost out of a 23" bike (they said it was longer, i trust them).

ddac - do you put up listings on CL with the same brick wall in the background? the scenery looks familiar...
ps that 7.2 looks like a perfect beater/sleeper... i would love to get a bike in that shape and get a new drivetrain for it.
