Did you know
The 20mph limits do NOT apply to cyclists
Just call your local police force to confirm this

That’s not surprising since cyclists are not required to monitor their own speed.

They would be aware that speed limits only apply to motorised vehicles. Pedal cycles are exempt.

How are you supposed to show you're an alpha cyclist if you can't frame a speeding ticket to prove it?
Not that I've got one (yet), but I keep trying. Had to talk my way out of a ticket for running a red light a few months ago, but that doesn't count.

And while.its true that generally on the open highway bicycles are not bound by the speed.limits, you could still be pulled up by rhe police for wanton and furious cycling I think it's called, which of course is a bit subjective, so in effect if the cop feels arsy he can still try and stitich you up one way or another
Also the police in london said at the outset they are not going to spend any of their time enforcing the 20mph limits, so in effect the cars.are not bound by the 20mph limits either. The 20mph.enforcement is left to speed cameras, so people learn where they are and slow down for them, and then rapidly speed up again, and this I am sure is.more dangerous for cyclists and other vulnerable road users than not having the speed cameras at all.

LOL. We'd sometimes paceline by a speed trap and circle back to ask for a ticket. We also used to run red lights en mass to flash the camera at night, ah to be young again...
When I was stationed in Africa, the base had a 6 MPH zone that they strictly enforced, one young officer actually had his bike (a pretty nice CX) confiscated, after he kept getting "tickets".
