NYC Metro Area and gravel racing
It is a struggle to find local events.
We had acool nj gravel race last year but in 2019 kinda lame. Why is this we have plenty of humans and trails.
Just curious to hear your opinion.

Bikes: Co-Motion Cappuccino Tandem,'88 Bob Jackson Touring, Co-Motion Cascadia Touring, Open U.P., Ritchie Titanium Breakaway, Frances Cycles SmallHaul cargo bike. Those are the permanent ones; others wander in and out of the stable occasionally as well.

What is your definition of local. in NYC Metro you probably will have to travel a couple of hours to find enough gravel to race on. If your range is 3 - 4 hours there are a ton of events on bikereg...

I'm 20 miles from NYC and there is almost zero "legal" off-road opportunity. Density function, I guess.

Admittedly, I would be surprised if there are a lot of gravel races in the New York City metro. That corridor of the country just does not seem like one that is set up for gravel racing.
I would think you would need to get out an hour or so to get enough roads to make racing realistic.

Slim pickin's indeed, unless you choose to test you handling skills and ride the extensive networks of mt. bike single track in Westchester, Long Island and NJ. Good stuff all within 20 miles, though I'd rather use a mt. bike.

I rode Keystone this year as well as Quick & the Dead, PA Unpaved, Hilly Billy and my favorite the SweetWater Whiskey Rebellion. If you decide to make the trek into PA be ready for some of their famous hills! PA makes climbing the Rockies look very easy...

sadly i lacked the appropriate bike this summer the unpaved looked great. Next summer i will be ready.
