WTB: 700c Clincher Road Rims

Haven't had much luck in the ISO thread so I thought I'd give it a shot here. I'm looking for some silver/polished 700c rims that I will use to build up a clincher wheel set for my C&V 10-speed.

Here's what I'm looking for:
ISO: Mavic Module E 700C 36h (any version, need just a single, but will consider a pair)
ISO: Mavic MA2 pair 700c 36h
ISO: H Plus Son TB14 700c 36h pair (prefer silver but will consider other finishes)

I'm happy to buy outright, but I also have a few things to trade/sell if anyone is interested.

Have to trade:
Very nice Mavic MA2 32h Wheelset with Tricolor Shimano hubs, 126mm spacing (happy to separate rims and hubs)
Suntour Bar End Shifters (early ratcheting type) with cables, down tube clip

Thanks!

I believe I have a pair of Mavic Module E 36 hole (used) tucked away. Let me dig 'em out and verify condition.

If so, I am also looking for a 36h single Module E, and live near #TrboDieselPwrd , so we could conceivable split a pair/shipping.

Okay, they're a mismatched pair: one Module E, one Model E-2. Both still round and true. The E-2 is double wall, recessed w/eyelets. The E is double wall, recessed/socketed w/eyelets.

Thanks, this might just work if the two rims aren't too visually different. I too have a module E that I'm trying to pair up with, but it's for a vintage rider so as long as they've got decent braking surface and are round and true as you say it's not as important that they're the exact same.

Giving this another long-term bump and updated first post for trades. If anyone has a pair of box section 36h rims, please let me know. Even willing to go slightly more modern such as Open Pros, etc. Thanks again.

Thanks for the offer malcala622 -- those are cool. I hate to be picky, but I'm really after some box section rims for that 70's look.

No problem at all. I'm also picky when it comes to buying parts.

Vintage 700C rims are always in demand and it's generally hard to find nice ones for a decent price. I declare rims "consumables", which allows me to buy new ones that look the part. How about Sun M-13 II rims? They look great and are not expensive, I just bought a pair for $74 shipped. Also, 27" rims look pretty much identical and vintage examples are much cheaper and easier to find. If you use 1¨ to 1-1/4¨ widths, tires are readily available.

I believe I have in my stash a pair of 700c Weinmann 36-hole concave rims without a hooked bead (so you would need to use a tire with a wire bead). I’ll let em go for cheap.

Regarding the demand, I've noticed! I've been close to pulling the trigger on these a couple of times but for one reason or another (mixed reviews mostly) I haven't. I'm sure they're fine rims and they definitely look the part and the price is hard to beat given what a lot of the desirable rims go for used. There is something to be said about having a nice, new set of rims (something I haven't experienced yet!)

I have a pair of these on my PX-10 -- nice and sturdy rims. I'll send you a PM.

Thanks for the responses.

Have you considered Pacenti Brevets? Silver, available in 36h, look a lot like vintage Mavics apart from the machined braking surface...

Thanks for the tip - I hadn't looked closely at these until you mentioned them and they look great. A bit lower profile than the TB14 by a few mm's giving more of that vintage look.
I'll probably end up having to go with new rims and these are a great alternative to the TB14 and the Sun M13II, although at a much different price point than the latter.

Yeah, for me the difference would come down to how wide I want/need. M13II is skinny like your old Mavic Module E or MA2, or a Rigida 1320. TB14 and Brevet are wider but made with fancier alloys and to tighter tolerances so they don't end up weighing appreciably more (I think all 3 are in the 450-500g zone.) But of course you pay more for those alloys and QC.

I just purchased a set of the Brevets for an early 70s build. Haven't yet built up the wheels, but very happy with the appearance of the rims, and for me the width and machined sidewall is are pluses. I'm not sure about the Mavic or Rigidas, but if it matters to you the Brevets are single eyeletted.

Thanks for the further insight. Yes, at +/- $80USD a piece I'm effectively doubling the value of the bike that these are intended for.

I have two bikes equipped with these rims and I think they are excellent, especially for the price. Sale right now at Carson City Bike shop website. They do online sales with pretty reasonable shipping.

https://carsoncitybikeshop.com/rim-s...sl-pol-msw-pv/

They also sell the same model in a 27.
