Best Builder in Manhattan

Hi all, I’m looking to have a custom bike built up in NYC and am looking for recommendations.

I know all the big shops but would rather have someone with great attention to detail build it up than some random shop employee.

If any can point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Their sole location is now in Greenwich CT, but I would recommend Signature Cycles. They are located right at the Greenwich Metro North station, around 40 minutes by train from Grand Central

I’ve never read of any builders in Manhattan or NYC for that matter.

One I do know of is Rick Jones, in Glen Cove, also a train ride.

About Rick

Unless I’m reading this wrong and you already have the custom frame and need somebody to build up from components ?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. Not looking for a custom frame. Just a normal build with supplied parts.

Build it yourself. Even if you end up buying some tools you'll probably come out ahead of shop labor and you can be a careful as you like. Its only a bicycle not the space shuttle. It'll be fun.

I build and restore bines in Woodside. We closed our shop nomad cycle last year but i still do custom work. I've built a few hundred bikes .See our website at .nomadcycle. com. For examples.

^^^This. Sadly, the best builder (or builder-upper) in Manhattan is no longer in Manhattan. But it's worth the trip.
