I crashed while riding my beloved Stella two weeks ago. I broke my left hand and three ribs, had road rash from head to toe, and got a deep purple bruise from my elbow to my wrist that I'm pretty sure was caused by the top tube of the bike, and yet there's not so much as a scratch to the paint on the bike. This level of over-protectiveness must be deeply ingrained instinct. It can't be a decision made in real time. I'm sure your wife loves you very much and would gladly have sacrificed her body to protect your bike, but there just wasn't time to react.

I did break a Campy 10-speed ergo shifter. That was probably the bike gods judging me for putting indexed shifters on a classic French bike.

“Just wash it off” - That’s what my wife said to me many years ago when we were a one car family and I came home to find a big yellow scrape/stripe on the side of our white Subaru. She had bumped into one of those yellow concrete pylons in a parking garage and decided to power through into the parking space.

Using blocks will require repaint in that area, I would be tempted to McGuyver up an electromagnet dent puller before resorting to blocks. Even before that I would polish out the white (paint?) transfer and reassess the dent.

Several years ago, I went out to the garage and saw a 2x4 laying in the middle of the garage floor. The little girl and her little friends had been over and playing around outside and stuff- so I figured they'd pulled some stuff out and not put it away, like children do. I rode my Voyageur SP to the bike store for some stuff and right back. When I parked the bike to open the garage door, I looked back at it- and something looked off. There was a dent in the top tube. Eventually I figured out I'd put a few 2x4s in the rafters of the garage and after some time, one had vibrated out with the door opening and closing- and it came right down on the TT of my VSP. It made me sick to my stomach. It still makes me feel sick. I've ridden it some, but it's been torn apart for at least 2 years. It hurts just seeing it.

Appears to have tipped over into/onto a protruding corner of two walls(?).
Unless you can pressurize the top tube while massaging gently using lubricated wooden blocks over adhesive film, don't ruin this bike's paint by trying to "fix" a dent.
The repair I described is doable.

I dealt with a dent without repaint by putting thin Mylar tape over the area, and rather than rotating the frame in the blocks (the ones I have are aluminum) I would clamp the blocks, loosen, rotate, re-clamp, loosen, rotate, you get the idea..... Much improvement on the dent but they don't go away completely and no damage to the paint.

Use it as an excuse to give the wife a "firm punishment" as part of a fun romp in the sack if you're into a little role play? Otherwise, clean it up and move on. I'd be pissed if the wife dented my Rock Lobster, but I also know she'd feel guilty, wouldn't have any intentionality in it, and I love her more than the bike. So I might spend a day upset, but move on to more important things.
